Why are the only options ALWAYS or NEVER AGAIN?

What I would like to see is exactly what I expect to happen.

Fluttershy will remain a Vampire (only at night and/or when tempted by particularly juicy fruit) for the rest of the season up until either the S4 Finale or mid S5 at the latest when she will eventually be fully cured of it ... but not before having her Bat-Ness become a plot point of at least 2 more episodes.

Not Fovever and Ever for the rest of the series ... but still occuring a few more times before she is FULLY cured and returned to normal.

    That is My Answer.

I think we should have ANOTHER Power Ponies episode, only this time....

    "I'm Batmare!"

Well, If you've seen Bats! Then you'd know that during the last ending scene, Fluttershy is still a batpony and that Twilight's spell only half worked. Most fans are wanting this change to be permanent, including myself. I mean, Twilight became an alicorn, so why not Fluttershy a batpony? Welp I hope she does stay a batpony anyways. Why change? We were bitching and wining over the changes the show had made already!

    Bah, pagebreaks didn't save. :P Wall of text warning. ^^;

@Ben: If the flutterbat form scares critters and/or ponies then I'd consider it's use to be a fail for the writers. Twilight's magic altered Fluttershy's physical form, and the transformation was allowed to reach an intense state before it was reversed, and since Twilight's magic never seems to function completely as desired it makes sense to believe the fang, at least, is still there because a full reversion simply wasn't possible.

Given Twilight's transformation into an alicorn (something I often forget because she's yet to really do anything with it), it stands to reason that other such transformations and character changes can happen to the other ponies or even be intended, including a permanent Flutterbat (though I might just be giving the writers far too much credit here).

My idea is more along the lines that Fluttershy encounters a creature (like a timberwolf or rockadile). First she tries talking to it. When that fails, she falls back on The Stare. When that fails, and with her desire to assert dominance over the creature, The Stare triggers the residual magic still within her and causes her to begin transforming into her batish form. The idea here is that before she's able to invoke The Stare she has to first suppress her shyness, thus the transformation helps keep that locked away so she can combat this now powerful, natural beast. Since this kind of confrontation for Fluttershy usually involves protecting a critter or other pony, they'd see Fluttershy's transformation, what she can do, and more importantly, see her immediately revert once the threat is dispatched. IMO, better a critter friend be the first witness so that it can be believable as to why most/no other critter would ever be scared upon seeing the form at a later time. Seeing the critters "talking" to each other would help; in fact, seeing Fluttershy conversing with the critters on what happened and learning to control it through them would be even better.

Whatever is planned for that magical box from the Tree of Harmony (whenever they get around to remembering to do something with it), you know it's going to be big, and it's probably going to require a transformation of all the mane 6 to conquer. Everypony except Fluttershy is already combat ready. Fluttershy needs a boost, and I think Flutterbat is a viable boost.

Ultimately, Fluttershy has made reference since as far back as season 1 that she's trying to be more assertive. I think the Flutterbat transformation would be best involuntarily invoked in moments where the desire to be assertive is most intense, and, once she gains full control of it, would help explain the "suppression of shyness" while in batpony form. And since her desires to be assertive have always been most intense when protecting critters or other ponies (such as the CMC), it would also help ease the other ponies into Flutterbat's form without scaring them off to it, since they should only ever see it in defense of them.

I hope the fang and the battyness are permanent about Fluttershy, but only show under specific circumstances. Free will or full moon or something along those lines.

The fangs very nearly ruined the entire episode for me. That gag at the end was so bad it left a bad taste that colored my perception of the entire episode until I watched it again. These "or is it?" gags are getting old. Half the episodes so far have had them. The shadow-pony I could accept. As a gag, it didn't impact the show at all if there's some mysterious shadowy figure that just exists and we never see it again, and as a potential tease of a villain it would be great. The comic disappearing was again a so what moment that doesn't impact anything if it just was a comic disappearing, and not some hint of things to come. However, Fluttershy's fang doesn't work as a gag. It has huge implications that can't just be shrugged off like the other two. If these actually turn into something, I will be overjoyed. But I seriously doubt it at this point.

That said, I would love to see Flutterbat back, except more in control of herself. Maybe give her some connection with Luna to establish a relationship there. I love the character design, and I'm a big fan of vampires (even vegetarian ones (yes that is a Twilight (the books, not the alicorn princess) reference)).

As much as I LOVE Flutterbat, I believe it would take away from her shy, caring personality. it might scare off critters, and ponies in general. Then the writers would have to deal with that, and it would add a lot of depth to Fluttershy without the other characters receiving any. Perhaps I'm overthinking it. I would be okay with perm fangs, but I think it would be more fun to have them infrequently, and suddenly eject at the sight of apples. All in all, I think it would be best if Flutterbat didn't add to her character permanently as a whole, but instead, leave room for headcannon and small nods here and there.

  • MM - 10 years ago

@BronyOfDreams Look man, I don't care if it's an AJ/Fluttershy episode, I'm only upset cause fluttershy keeps stealing the lights.

  • BronyOfDreams - 10 years ago

@MM No, its an AJ/Fluttershy episode.

  • MM - 10 years ago

Why does fluttershy keep stealing the lights from other ponies, this was supposed to be an applejack episode.

  • MM - 10 years ago

Pinkie pie would've made a much better bat-pony.

  • sandal - 10 years ago

it would be sorta pointless for her to just have permafangs

but they just popped up because apples, that would be way cute

  • Charles - 10 years ago

I like the idea of continuity. I say let her keep her fangs. It's better to allow characters to develop than to always force things back to the status quo.

  • Rainbow Dash - 10 years ago

Fang is canon. Rainbow Dash has spoken.

  • Rama - 10 years ago

I would love to see FlutterShy keep her fangs, and while I wouldn't want to see her still acting like a bat, occasionally seeing her staring at apples real closely and then shaking off the urge to dig in would be cute.

I seriously doubt that's going to happen, though. :

  • SpeedBoost - 10 years ago

I want to nuke the entire fandom......why?¿?

  • Rockpath5 - 10 years ago

I have to ask you Lord Frith. What do you think of that pretender Celestia? Anyway, I like her fangs, but I'm of the opinion that it was just an ending gag.

  • Bud - 10 years ago

No. Its just a throwaway joke. And it should be keeped that way.

  • HeimoBauss - 10 years ago

Yes yes yes and once again fucking yes, this NEEDS to be permanent! Even if referring to it only mildly!

  • Chad - 10 years ago

Personally, I like the idea of it being like a vampire in Elder Scrolls. As long as she keeps her fruit cravings satisfied, there is almost no indication of her condition... but the longer she goes without fruit juice, the battier she becomes until full-on Flutterbat.

  • Oreo Hunter - 10 years ago

I want to cum inside Flutterbat.

  • whothehay - 10 years ago

I prefer Fluttershy in pegasus form, and really hope the ending was nothing more than a "The End... Or Is It?" trope!

@Ray; Well darn, you just convinced me that flutterbat would be a really cool thing to keep. It would be cool to see actual physical changes to a character that can dramatically affect their role and nuances of their personality. Heck, if you really wanted a moral with the episode dealing with controlling her vampirism, you could make parallels to puberty. Best of all, it wouldn't be Twilicorn.

  • Michael - 10 years ago

No! We need perma Flutterbat, Flutterbat is THE best thing to happen in FiM.

  • Ray - 10 years ago

IMO, by showing the fang at the end, they implied it should be permanent, but I honestly think it should really only stay if they intend to do something with it. Like, for starters, it's something she didn't have before, so should bother her at least until she gets used to it. After that, something like Luna transforming in Luna Eclipsed, the Flutterbat form is something she should be able to eventually gain access to, maybe involuntary at first, kinda like a Hulk transformation when a problem overwhelms normal, kind Fluttershy. But as her adventures in assertiveness continue, I think she should eventually gain control over the transformation, partially suppressing her kindness attribute (read: shyness) while giving her the natural weaponry to be a viable combatant. I think a future Nightmare Moon Night should have Nightmare Luna and Flutterbat wreaking mischief upon all the ponies in funfull frightenings. :)

  • Faustenberger - 10 years ago

Personally, I don't care one way or the other about whether she keeps the fangs, but with that little bit at the end in the episode they'd BETTER still be there.

  • Christie - 10 years ago

Not permanent, but have an addition to another S4 episode. If there's a S5 i think it should've been solved by then. And if not, solved by the S4 finale.

But I have a feeling it'll all be forgotten by the next episode and will never be mentioned again.

  • Xyro TR1 - 10 years ago

Seth, you know Fluttershy is best with fangs.

  • Pencils/ Countcarbon - 10 years ago

I think it should be issued maybe in one more episode if anything, not permanent. It is far too anime tropey to sit right with me.
Also I suppose the fang being teased was just for the kids, who can now pretend their fluttershy toy has a secret fang, so it is not likely going to show in the future.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

Six hundred and forty-fifth! I voted for "other". I'd like Fluttershy's new fangs to be a story element in episodes to come without requesting that they be a permanent addition to her dentition. In other words, we've been teased with Flutter-fangs, do something with it. 8^)
