Sincerely, I hope Sombra returns. He was an awesome yet undeveloped character, and I see much potential in him. I hope he comes back with a more interesting purpose and presenting a great challenge for the mane six. He is the evilest and most intelligent villain of all, and added to his dark powers results in an indispensable villain to be back.
Sunset Shimmer should be last just on the grounds continuity would have to be destroyed in order to bring her back.
Flim and Flam are perfect as 1 off ponies, but what kind of interactions would the Mane 6 have with them if they were to return? They almost took AJ's orchard from her, so I imagine everyone's be pretty hostile towards them. Do you really want to see the mane 6 be hostile for an episode (Boast Busters.)
To me the super speedy cider squeezy 9000 or what ever was my least favorite episode of all. Flim and flam we're entertaining for some of the episode but I don't really like them. Actually my least favorite episodes are spike episodes. Except for his Dragon quest episode. Also FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NEWEST EPISODE GAVE TENTACLE PORN IDEAS!!! (Episode name Threes a Crowd.) Cadence almost got raped by a worm dildo with tentacles.
Since no one cares about a Flim/Flam return I decided to only care and hope for a Flim/Flam return and none of the others. They were more interesting and fun too.
I would not mind most of these coming back. Chrysalis certainly has plenty of potential reasons to come back, I have no doubt Trixie could have many plausible excuses to come back too, I'm also hoping that Lightning will have gone back to the Wonderbolt Academy after eating her humble pie and be back with RD in a future Wonderbolt episode, Gilda is a loose end I would also like to see tied up, Sombra's "demise" was somewhat inconclusive IMO so I would not rule out his return either. While Sunset may have a fair amount of comeback potential, the staff said EqG was non-canon as far as the TV series is concerned so in principle, she should not be coming "back" unless writers change their mind about this. The Flim-Flams are pretty much the only ones I would not mind NOT seeing again... but then again, they could be brought back in some completely new setting and kick shenanigans to a new level, one example of which would be the Earth&Sky fanfic where they enter the "pegathlon" and smoke the competition (literally) with their magic-rocket-propelled wings with half the Royal Army on their tails by the time the race is over.
They all have fairly good comeback potential. My top three votes would be Chrysalis, Trixie and Lightning.
King Sombra. He is the Sauron or even Ganon for MLP. Truly a great villain.
Glad someone else thinks Sombra will invade the Crystal Empire during the Equestria Games.

I vote Lightning Dust, because I found her an interesting foil to Rainbow, and seeing her change for the better, or even just serve as an obstacle again, sounds nice to me.
Trixie's had another episode and a moment to herself in Equestria Girls, and Chrysalis is pretty likely to only star in a premiere or finale, as with all the big villains. Indeed, I would like more Trixie, but other characters deserve some spotlight too.
I would like to see Gilda again, as well, though.
It was hard to choose between Chrysalis and Gilda. In the end, I went with Chrysalis, but who I believe is actually returning is Sombra to ruin the Equestria Games.

I like Flim and Flam but their 'music man' point has already been made of ponies falling for their hyping antics. If they return hopefully they would do something different so they aren't seen as one-trick ponies. Maybe more emphasis on the planning stages of their schemes instead of the presentation. That would show them from a new angle.
Flim and Flam last? Why? Makes it look like people only cares about the females, and Sombra with no character. Well I CAN understand Sombra because people probably WANT to see them GIVE him character, but other than that this poll confuse me.
@Bitter That doesn't mean they aren't antagonists. Antagonist=/=Villain. An antagonist is someone who conflicts with the main character. Depending on the story, they can even be good. Now think, did Lightning Dust, Gilda, and Trixie conflict with the main character in their appearance? Exactly, THAT is what makes them antagonists.
I was already satisfied by Sombra, who is also kinda...dead.

Now, I don't like Gilda. To me, she's extremely forced, and I hate how she spouts out dated 90's slang. However, Magic Duel proved they could make even a character I really didn't like, and actually make her interesting. Maybe they could do the same with Gilda!
Speaking of Magic Duel, I would like to see Trixie return, as her "reformation" gives a lot of potential for future stories. It's definitely a thought.

You see, most of these guys here either already had their returns, or they just don't deserve to show up again. For example, the Flim and Flam Brothers were not so interesting to many of the show's viewers, especially to me (I must guilt that it is true that this may be under my own conjecture and opinion, however, the polls also support my opinion.) Nonetheless, as Queen Chrysalis had more dialogue and also was under my opinion very fascinating. This means that Sombra, as he was a weak villian in stature of the show deserves more attention and building in his history as we can see. I can see where people might disagree with me for this reason, too. He was vaguely implemented, and if you were like me, you probably didn't even know his name the first time around watching the episodes he is in. Now, as seeing that Trixie was next up on the polls, I personally didn't like Trixie too much (Don't hurt me), but that being said, she also returned in a previous season, so that's basically for me like making a third movie about Justin Bieber (As you can all agree would not be that enjoyable) and never making equal the balances of screen time. Also, Gilda might be another interesting return, and kind of make a humorous slap in the face to the "Cupcakes" fanfiction, which is also supported by her common abscence.

i also dont think of gilda LD ir trixie as real villains more like rivals(motherf*cker gary oak)... bad yes .. antagonists yes, but not villans

I would rather see a changeling episode with a normal changeling than a Chrysalis episode. The hive has been split, one changeling living alone who ends up discovered or such.
As far as I am concerned even if the hive managed to get back together, they would come under new, less tragic leadership.
Lightning Dust would be interesting to see again but not necessarily as a primary villain. I mean she could show up at any time in any episode.
Gilda would be nice to see -- maybe rooting for the griffons at the games.

I'm surprised Flim and Flam is last. They're hilarious and the most entertaining of these in general. I voted them, but would want to see more Gilda and Sombra too. I'm surprised Trixie is first, she's has had an episode in first AND third season. Trixie was as much jerk as Gilda so I never understood the fandom. I used to like them equal but now Gilda quite a bit more, I hope she returns.

I've watched enough mlp conventions with the writers of the show saying that King Sombra was meant to be defeated and to never return.

Well Trixie, Gilda and Lightning Dust are not really antagonists. They are just jerks. If Trixie didn't changed in season 3. I'll be happy to see Trixie episode, for now, not as an "antagonist".
I could imagine Gilda in the gryphon team on Equestria games and Dust as a background pony in another team too.

King Sombra, gul-durn it! Trixie's return would make Seth happier than he deserves, and Spike needs a rematch with Big, Black'n Smokey in which he plays more than a mere support role.
Of these, Chrysalis seems most likely, but I'd be concerned about her she was handled. If she received a retcon like season 4 Discord did, it could potentially be good. But for all the wedding episode love, Chrysalis and her episode were VERY poorly written.

It was comfirmed for multiple times by the writers of the show that King Sombra was meant to be only in season 3 premiere and that he's actually dead after exploding into pieces.

Also @Magic - methinks you're slightly confused as to what an "antagonist" is. Antagonists are simply characters that make life difficult for the protagonist of a story. That doesn't mean they're necessarily evil or villainous (though they can be.) Trixie definitely fits the bill. Heck, some really interesting antagonists are actually quite sympathetic characters whose goals are virtuous but at odds with the main characters'.
Personally, I'd be fine with *none* of these characters making a reappearance. Discord is doing a fine job as a recurring antagonist, we really don't need any more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to seeing more of these characters in the future, but I'd much rather the writers expand outward into new territory than revisit these.

Trixie isn't an antagonist, though. She's egotistical, sure, but that's part of her job. The only time she acted in a way that could've killed anyone is when she was under the influence of the Alicorn Amulet. Lightning Dust is the same way... but she actually didn't care that she almost killed a few ponies. Trixie, on the other hand, did.
It was a really tough choice between Chrysalis and Trixie.

I can't believe people want Trixie to come back again. Wasn't she lame enough in Magic Duel? Isn't she reformed now anyway? If we are talking about villains coming back and Trixie learned her lesson in Magic Duel, then she shouldn't even be listed.

@Noel. I was JUST about to say that. Who knows Where Dust lives and the Griffons will surely be in the hunt to win it all.
With the Equestrian games coming up, Gilda and Lightning Dust would make a lot of sense. It wouldn't be forced at all to have them in the games, even if it's just a cameo or a few lines.

Sunset Shimmer, as a pony. Like most MLP villains, she has no backstory, but her's seems more interesting to me. Why would a student of Celestia turn to the dark side and how did she end up on the human world? I demand more answers and more Anti-Sparkle!
Although Sombra never had his moment to shine (not properly anyways), I don't see how they can bring him back without it seeming like fanservice or being nothing more than a cheap, gimmicky revival ritual.
Chrysalis was never truly defeated, so a return of the Changelings is much more plausible and interesting from a story perspective imo.

For those of you keep citing the comics about Chrysalis, for one, not everyone reads them and two, their canon is up to the reader (which is what the writer of the comics said, not me).
You know why I want Chrysalis, or even Sombra to come back in Season 4. Well... what the hell do even know about either of them, anyway?! I mean, we get it, they're both evil tyrannical dictators, one with expansion on her agenda. Yet WHO are they? What's their backstories? What are they like when they're not concocting evil schemes? Do they have family or friends? We don't know, because the writers haven't given them the time and attention like Discord has been given.
With Chrysalis and her species, we have more of an opportunity, really because it's an entire civilization we have to work with and unlike Sombra, Chryssi does have more of a personality and makes me WANT to know about her. In fact, a third reason I don't count the comics is because it doesn't show us more about Chrysalis than we already know: it just shows her launching another evil scheme, little more about her personally. And again, with her comes a whole species. The Changelings could be the FIRE NATION or the KLINGONS of this show, if only they along with Chrysalis were given the opportunity to be fleshed out as CHARACTERS and be given some depth beyond being the cardboard cutout 'enemy species'.
Sunset Shimmer to be cannonized for the show would be interesting, though to be done without Flash Sentry in any way
