I hope another network picks up Jay and he soars to the top again.
Hey, FOX, AMC, are you listening?

  • Bryna - 10 years ago

I've been going to bed with Jay Leno for 22 yrs, and before that, Johnny, Jack, and Steve Allen. Jay will be hard to follow, but I'm willing to give Jimmy a try. Just won't be the same, no more Jay Walking, no more whose head is bigger, no more news updates, headlines, etc. I'll survive, but it won't be easy. And, Jay, I can also relate to your not going to another network...family is family, and lucky you. So, keep those fond memories, I know I will.

I'll miss him. He made me laugh out loud (in what I call) the middle of the night. Many of his jokes were worth repeating the next day at work. I'll miss him.

  • Bev - 10 years ago

Two programs I never missed was the Tonight Show and NCIS. After CBS let Ziva go I stopped watching NCIS. Now that NBC let Jay go I won't be watching the Tonight Show either. So sick & tired of executives making changes to their #1 shows. Maybe they should be the ones to go. How can you expect your audience to be loyal when that word doesn't exist in your vocabulary. I've already got a cartoon channel, I don't need to watch a cartoon on late night.

  • Ginny - 10 years ago

NBC executives. I hope you pay with your jobs for the mistake you just made. I don't watch much TV but I watched Jay every night. I tried to watch Jimmy Fallon several times but he is just too juvenile for me. Jay, Good luck and thanks for the many years of good entertainment.

I never said why I liked Jays show so much. EVERYTHING about it, Headlines, the crazy people on Jaywalking, the crazy answers and questions. Love it when the animals are on, he is SO great with them and even if he is, he never acts like he's afraid of the animals, the Photo booth, the way he kids with his guests and how relax they all seem to be, the fun and playfulness with some esp. Bradshaw. Like Ellen's show, he always makes me laugh. His,( Jays)show is a feel good show and thats what we all need esp. when we're going to bed.
WE WANT JAY AND NO ONE ELSE WILL DO....!

  • TERRI - 10 years ago

I DON'T UNDERSTAND NBC ANY LONGER, WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD THING, WHY LET IT GO? ARE YOU NUTS OR WHAT? FALLON IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR JAY, HE IS SO IMMATURE, LOOSE MINDED AND DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A VERY RESPONSIBLE PERSON. AND THOSE "THANK YOU" NOTES ARE REALLY SO 2ND GRADER, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE HE DOES STUPID, AS I DON'T WATCH HIM. AFTER HAVING HIM ON FOR 10 MINS, HE SEEMED SO SILLY I HAD TO TURN HIM OFF.
NOW NBC , YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO JUMP CBS'S RATINGS, THEY ARE GOING TO BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO YOU AND FALLON. GOOD GOING, ALWAYS WANT TO HELP YOUR COMPETETION.

  • Janice - 10 years ago

I watched the Tonight Show because I wanted to see Jay's monologue, headlines, jaywalking, the silly stuff he did at the beginning of the show. I LOVED the segments with the animals. I would watch the entire show when I was interested in the guests that were on, which wasn't very often. I wanted to watch Jay Leno. I remember the kindness and compassion he showed Carroll O'Conner when he was on after his son died. He was criticized for it, but I think he helped a grieving father. I check it out who the guests are on the talk shows, and watch them on the rare occasions there's someone I want to see appearing. I used to watch the Tonight Show to see Jay Leno. I have no reason to watch it now. I've already started watching the CBS affiliate's local news, I am sick of NBC.

  • TOM - 10 years ago

NBC SCREWED UP AGAIN. HOPE ALL THE SPONSERS PULL AWAY FROM THE TONIGHT SHOW MAYBE THEN THEY WILL START LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE. AS FOR ME I WILL NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT SHOW ON THE TONIGHT SHOW. NBC HOPE YOU FIND SOMEONE BETTER THAN JIMMY TO FILL THE SHOES OF JOHNY AND JAY.

  • Barbara F Fox - 10 years ago

I cannot believe that NBC would be so stupid as to let Jay Leno go, AGAIN! In fact, I am INFURIATED with them! I think the best thing we can do is just sit back & watch the whole thing just blow up in thier faces, like the last time! . Did they learn NOTHING from the "Conan Debacle" ??? SMH !!!

  • Debbie - 10 years ago

The Tonight Show without Jay Leno just doesn't work for me. I've always found Jay to be personable, compassionate, sincere, and a great host. His jokes were clean and funny. As a mom, I appreciated his style of humor. He was never mean-spirited or had a need to make vulgar jokes. I'm already sick of hearing people say that he deserved this because of Conan...give me a break! Conan was not what The Tonight Show needed. His personality did not match the pre-established caliber of The Tonight Show. It certainly wasn't Jay's fault that Conan couldn't cut it! At least Conan's fans can continue to view him on cable. Now that Jay has been booted out the door (again), I'm done with NBC. I cannot understand why the network would take away the #1 nighttime talk show host. It is stupid. Like others, I like Jimmy Fallon and I have often watched his show. I'm sorry, but he's not ready to take over the reins that Jay has held for so long. His style of humor is a bit more juvenile and spastic for that slot. It would be something like turning The Tonight Show into Romper Room!

Jay, thank you for being such a good person. It broke my heart to watch you last night. My whole family choked up and cried watching your closing comments. Thank you for "Jay Walking," and "Headlines." We enjoyed those moments so much. You will definitely be missed and we wish you only the very best in your future endeavors. It's just a shame that NBC couldn't treat you with the respect you deserved.

  • Kathy Halajian - 10 years ago

I will not miss Jay Leno at all. He should have been dropped after his failed attempt at a nightly show. What he did to Conan O'Brien was a real dick-move. I lost all respect for him because of it. I find it sweet revenge that Conan is doing well on TBS. So, go home, Jay. Now I can start watching the Tonight Show again. Still miss Johnny Carson, though.

And anyone who calls it ageism or age discrimination, I say, "Poo poo, to you." Not very mature of me, but you gotta go where your strengths are.

Our country really needs to take it's inventory. We need to recognize and acknowledge that we are an Ageist Society. We do not in general value our older people. We tend to want to run away from it because instead of dealing with the [pain of them leaving us at some point. So what do we do, we dispose of them . We force them to retire or if they are very elderly we warehouse them
Believe it or not it is not like that in some other cultures . For example in Brazil they value older people, including teenagers. There is a talk show host in Brazil that is wildly popular, Jo Soares. he is probably somewhere between 70 and 80 years old. He is popular with young people, teenagers and so on and so forth. He is over weight, no longer handsome and robust but he is revered for his talent, education and experience. He is very accomplished in many areas of life and speaks five languages.
I can tell you no one in Brazil is calling for his retirement!!! I know that we are still considered a young country but I sincerely wish we would finally grow up and learn the good things from other cultures.
Yes, I will miss Jay Leno. I really don't understand that we couldn't learn more from him.

boy...nbc will get no love from me this month...first of all, those boring, time wasting olympics, and never did like leno (if you record his monolouge, then play it back...you could stop in the middle of his "so-called" jokes and deliver a better punchline yourself), not only that, with his insecurities, how long did he host without having a guest comedian on (was it 10 to 12 years)???...letterman has been wearing thin, so i am tempted to go over to jimmy kimmel (great, original writing staff and sketches), of course over at E, really like chelsea handler...bye jay, don't let the door hit you in the back...signed buc...p s of course i am spoiled, back in the 70's i was a page at metro media (now fox) in l a...went to the king (johnny carson's show) five times...nobody could even touch johnny...and many folks do not know, after the monolouge and the golf swing (when n b c would go to commercial, carson always said, "oh, sh*t)...always got a laugh...

NBC has developed the reputation for throwing their long-standing employees under the bus. Jimmy Fallon's insensitive remark on the the status of the current tonight show's orchestra demonstrates the type of of person that he is. Time will tell whether he'll have the same type of durability as the orchestra.

  • Jo - 10 years ago

Jay Leno was the only thing worth watching on NBC. Goodby Leno - goodby NBC. Hope somebody else picks him up; this country needs the sunshine he gave us.

  • Louise - 10 years ago

In 2012, I visited California with my hubby and some friends. Without a doubt, the highlight of our trip was being in the audience of the Tonight Show. We got to greet Jay from our seats when he came out to the stage. So exciting! Arnold Swarzineger was the guest. We will miss watching Jay every night before bedtime. Enjoy yourself now, Jay! God bless!

  • Amy - 10 years ago

We love Jay Leno! So sad to see him go. We like Jimmy Fallon but HE WILL NEVER BE JAY LENO. It won't be the same and we don't think it will be near as popular as with Jay. I know out with the old and in with the new! Well the old is sometimes better then the new, you must might learn this NBC (some day maybe). We would love to see Jay back, he is the best talk show host that there is!

I am 53YRS old. I am Retired with 21YRS of Military Service. In the last 7-8YRS I became 100% Disabled due to the Conditions I was subject to while serving. I start this comment in this manner because while on sea duty for 14YRS out of the 21 I was in one of the common things on the majority of the 12 different Naval Ships I was on is that the Journalists, (Who are in charge of the CCTV programing), would make sure that we had the latest recordings of the Tonight show with Jay Leno. We could not get them live of course at that time but we could get them in previously recorded version in the ships mail while deployed. I personally enjoyed the show with Jay Leno to the Max. All through the years after I retired from the Navy I still watched the show every week night it was on. I now have a big hole in my nightly viewing excitement. I like Jimmy Fallen, but I have tried to watch his show and I do not like the majority of his format.
    Thank You Jay Leno

  • Mamacita - 10 years ago

Jay I am so sad to see you go. I have enjoyed the Tonight Show as much as when Johnny was hosting. I think Jimmy Fallon is an comedian but not so much of a good host to a show I go to bed with every night . YOU WILL BE MISSED. Good Luck in the next chapter of your life. Thanks for the memories.

  • COOKIE - 10 years ago

    HEY JAY,

IF YOU GET ANOTHER SHOW, WE WILL GO TO WHEREVER YOU GO WE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU ALWAYS, THANK YOU FOR 22 "GREAT YEARS" WE WILL ALL MISS YOU AND WISH YOU THE BEST ALWAYS.
WE ALL WILL TUNE IN TO SEE YOU IN JAY'S GARAGE.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU JAY LENO, "THANKS FOR THE MEMEORIES" AND GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS

  • Sharon - 10 years ago

Not in least sad to see him go. Met hiin NY and also saw him perform. He was neither funny nor witty then nor has been since. He's corny and laughs at his own jokes. Still missing Johnny!

  • CHRIS - 10 years ago

    ONE LAST COMMENT:

IT WAS HEART BREAKING TO SEE A MAN FOR THE LAST 22YEARS CRY SO EMOTIONAL THAT AT TIMES HE COULD NOT SPEAK. HE STATED HIS THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE SUPPORT HIM IN THERE HOMES EVERYNIGHT FOR THE LAST 22 YEARS. HE THANKED HIS STAFF FOR 22 YEARS MAKING HIM LOOK GOOD,BEING THEIR FOR HIM AND HIS WIFE AND BEING THE GREATEST STAFF HE HAS EVER KNOWN AND HAS EVER WORKED WITH. HE WENT ON SAYING THAT HIS FIRST YEAR HE LOST HIS MOM, THE SECOND YEAR OF THE TONIGHT SHOW HE LOST HIS DAD AND THE 2 YEARS LATER HE LOST HIS BROTHER. THAT IS WHEN HE MADE HIS STAFF HIS FAMILY BECAUSE HE HAD ONLY HIS WIFE AND THEY WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR HIM AND HE WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR THEM AND THAT WAS" HIS FAMILY". HE WENT THROUGH UPS AND DOWN THROUGH THE YEARS AND DID EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO BE THERE TO GO THROUGH WHAT EVER THE PROBLEM WAS WITH AND FOR HIS STAFF. HE SAID "WE ALWAYS" WOULD GET THROUGH IT TOGETHER NO MATTER WHAT IT WAS I SUPPORTED THEM AND WAS BY THEIR SIDE. IT WAS HEART BREAKING TO SEE THIS MAN SO THANKFUL TO HIS STAFF ON TELEVISION AND THEN HE CLOSED WITH JOHNNY CARSON ENDING.

NBC HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO SUCH A HUMBLE MAN THAT GAVE HIS ALL TO YOU FOR 22 YS!

  • Roger - 10 years ago

It was really sad watching Jay's last show .
I doubt NBC has any show rated # 1in their time slot, and they go and fire the # 1 show in late night.
Jay will do fine, but NBC needs o fire their programming head.
NBC will be begging him to come back within 3 months, though I hope he does not come back to NBC.
You Tube or Netflix's should hire him to do a daily show.
    We will miss you Jay.

  • Chris - 10 years ago

TO ALL NBC EXECUTIVES AND UNIVERSAL

"NBC WHAT THE HELL WERE ALL YOU SHIT HEADS THINKING???? THE TONIGHT SHOW HAS BEEN HERE FOREVER SINCE JACK PAAR NOW YOU MORAN'S DID THIS AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME JAY LENO SAID "ADIOS" I AND ALL OTHERS SEE THAT JIMMY FALLON IS A NICE GUY AND IS A FOMER COMEDIAN FROM (SNL) EXCEPT HE IS FOR A YOUNGER CROWD.

NBC WORD OF ADVISE YOU NEED TO GET "JIMMY FALLONS BAND LEADER" UP TO DATE AND WELL GROOMED" THE ROOTS DRUMMER". HIS APPEREANCE IS SO 70'S- 80'S WITH THE DRUMMER WITH THE SLOPPY ATTIRE SHIRT OUT, AFRO AND WITH A PICK IN HIS HAIR AND SOMETIMES WITH BRAIDS " VERY GHETTO AND BACK LOGGED"AND IT IS IN BAD TASTE. IT IS 2014!!!!!!!! WHAT IS WITH THAT???? THE BAND IS OK THEY ARE ALL NEAT AND CLEAN, BUT YOU NEED TO CLEAN UP THE LEADER , ONE THING FOR SURE, " THE ROOTS"------- COULD NEVER REPLACE A BAND LIKE RICKEY MINOR BAND OR PREVIOUSLY - KEVIN EUBANKS, BRANDON MARSELIS AND DOC SEVERENSON. YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE SEEN A NIGHTLY SHOW BAND WITH BAD APPEARENCE LIKE JIMMY FALLONS DRUMMER AND LEADER OF A BAND. EVEN "JUSTIN TIMERLAKE'S BAND LOOKED SO WELL GROOMED AND THE THEIR ATTIRE WAS SO NEAT AND ALL VERY WELL GRROMED FOR TELEVISION. WHEN THEY APPEARED ON "JIMMY FALLONS SHOW. IN THE LAT 80'S & 90'S. WHEN ARESENIO HALL WAS AROUND HIS BAND WAS SO WELL GROOMED AND WELL DRESSED FOR THE CAMERA'S YOU NEVER SAW A BAD ATTIRE. JUST LIKE TODAY'S DAVID LETTERMAN'S BAND W/ PAUL SCHAEFER STILL GROOMED AND WELL DRESSED FOR THE CAMERA. MOST ALL THE PEOPLE NOW ARE GOING TO START TO WATCH " ARSENIO HALL AND JIMMY KIMMEL NOW THAT JAY IS GONE. NBC. WISHING YOU THE BEST!!! BUT THE WORD IS AND YOU SHOULD READ ALL THE OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE MINE. NO ONE WILL BE WATCHING JIMMY FALLON MAYBE 1 OR 2, BUT I SURE WILL NOT BE WATCHING. ( LIKE THEY SAY MISS ME NOT). SO SAD TO SEE AN END TO AN ERA THAT WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM THE CONSUMERS FOR GENERATIONS. THAT IS WHY YOU WILL ALWAYS BE # 3, BECAUSE CBS IS NUMBER #1 AND YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELF'S FOR DOING WHAT YOU SCREW UP.

  • Dianne - 10 years ago

NBC has a really done it this time! Didn't they learn from the last experience? I guess I'll just go to bed a little earlier.

  • Norma - 10 years ago

This is so stupid. Why fix something that isn't broken. No matter how good a sport Jay is, this has to be painful.

  • Sue - 10 years ago

NBC made a huge mistake again!! I've been watching Jay every night for 22 years & I have always looked forward to his show & his genuine niceness, in a not so nice industry. He is a true gentleman, had a huge heart. Watching his final show was like losing a part of my family, watching him choke back the tears as he said NBC & his staff became his family. So heartbreaking...and they stab him in the back. I am tuning out NBC & any sponsors. Fall on was OK at late night...he is still a juvenile, immature NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME player....he will never compare to the decency & humanity & genuinely nice guy that Jay Leno is!!! Jay had friends on his show, not guests. He also cared about us normal folks. Jay deserved better and so did we-his fans :-)

  • DORIS HENDRZAK - 10 years ago

I WATCHED JAY EVERY NIGHT AND I WAS REALLY SAD THURSDAY NIGHT BEING HIS LAST. I LIKE JIMMY FALLON BUT HE CAN NEVER REPLACE JAY, IN FACT NO ONE COULD. IN A WAY I AM HAPPY FOR JAY BECAUSE HE CAN SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIS WIFE, AND I AM SURE SHE WILL LIKE THAT. I WISH JAY THE BEST OF LUCK, NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES, AND I AM SURE HE WILL RETURN TO TV SOON. ALL I CAN SAY IS, HE WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES!!!!!

  • Ransie Ratnatunga - 10 years ago

Mr Jay Leno was special ,he had substance and sincere hands on humour during all his shows. Above all he was a consummate professional whose appeal was inter generational. At the end of the day you could always
turn on the Tonight Show and have some good laughs. He was unassuming and unpretentious. I shall miss him ,the Tonight Show will never be the same without him. I join millions of people who appreciated his consistent and palpably compassionate work ethic. His kindness and loyalty to his Crew members and their families is touching. He has loyal fans in my beloved Homeland Sri Lanka too, we wont forget him
and wish him every success in the future.

  • Linda M. Boehmer - 10 years ago

How could NBC do this - to someone who was number 1 in the ratings! It makes no sense - none whatsoever. I guess life isn't fair! Hopefully, Jay will get more opportunities on other stations and even NBC- and we hope he continues his live shows as well. Big Mistake, NBC!!!!!!!! To lose someone of Jay's caliber - so funny and such a good soul! Big mistake!!!!

  • Angie - 10 years ago

The powers that be are making a huge mistake. Have you ever heard of the heads of t.v. listening to the public?? And you are right, Connie, they would never listen to an older person's opinion. Good luck Jay and I hope we see you somewhere are t.v. someday.....

  • Caryn - 10 years ago

I know how painful it is to be treated like an 'old Buick'. Many good years left but discarded for someone younger. Why? Ridiculous if one is doing a great job. Jay Leno was still doing a great job!!!

  • Jay - 10 years ago

There was a time when I thought Fallon's show was OK but I've grown to not really like his show and see it as a waste of time. I will not be watching the Tonight Show anymore. I hope the advertisers see this poll and comments. It would be interesting to see another poll in 6 months...now that would really be telling!

  • Connie - 10 years ago

This was age discrimination, pure and simple. And I know, because it happened to me. Jay has been very gracious about it. I have no plans to watch ANYONE on late night, especially Jimmy Fallon, who, although funny, is juvenile, and not worth my time. But, then, no one cares what older people think anyway.

  • Patricia - 10 years ago

I also will be watching Jimmy Kimmel now since I do not like Fallon. It is age discrimination since he was number one!

  • Christine - 10 years ago

We've always watched Jay. We loved him. He was funny and had some really funny bits. I feel like it's the end of an era. But I look forward to Jimmy Fallon! How much will his show change when he moves to an earlier time slot? Him and Justin Timberlake together are hilarious!! Good luck Jay. You'll be missed!!

  • Lois - 10 years ago

He should see this survey. The numbers speak for themselves. NBC made a big mistake. He is a real gentleman and a great entertainer. I won't be watching Jimmy Fallon. These numbers are lower than when Conan took over.

  • Dee - 10 years ago

I watched Jay's last show, It was tearfull and I cried with him. I have seen him twice in person and he's funny and real and I''m still hoping somthing is in the works for more Jay. Life is about changes, Everyone good comes back . Come back soon, Jay.
