Do you think a connecting road through Wye Park in Cle Elum is a good idea?

If there is one thing Cle Elum sorely lacks, it is an event location, properly developed. There is no evidence that this road will not ADD to traffic difficulties in the area. What of left hand turns, both on and off South Cle Elum Way? And in a location very close to the intersection of First Street and South Cle Elum Way? Won't that further congest the area? It would be more responsible for the city to decline this (taxpayer funded) grant money for a road we don't need, and instead apply for funding to develop the Wye as a park and trail head, with shade, grass and amenities, that it might be used for events to bring people into our town and boost an economy that desperately needs attention.

Grace's comment is right on. Flagpole Park is a source of pride for our community; don't throw away the chance to develop the Wye as the other half of a beautiful gateway to our city. Regarding traffic...is there really a traffic problem at that intersection?

It makes no sense to destroy the only major event area in Cle Elum to accommodate people who for the most part live outside of the city. The existing road can be improved to move more traffic.
