It’s demeaning to assume that a decision to have plastic surgery is more or less equivalent to succumbing to societal pressures.
So many decisions are steeped in a patriarchal culture that it’s silly to single out the decision to get plastic surgery as particularly antifeminist.
It’s impossible to make a general statement about it.
If it makes you feel more confident, more power to you!
Plastic surgery is only ok if it’s correcting something that’s seriously wrong, or being used to reconstruct the body after injury or surgery.
Since it’s something only some people can afford, it’s really not feminist.
People who get plastic surgery are buying into patriarchal ideas of beauty.
As more women get plastic surgery, more women will feel like they should, so it will be less and less of a “choice”.
