I've known Jaron for a number of years. He is an extremely good kid, very humble & polite; he truly embodies what a role model should be. He had surgery last year, and though he was told he would probably not be able to wrestle this year, his hard work proved otherwise. He has the heart of a champion...competitive without being heartless. If more kids were like him, we wouldn't have as many self-centered athletes as we do.
Jaron is definitely a shining example of sportsmanship...and as such, would be a great ambassador for the sport.

Jaron Smith is an awesome young man. He is not only a great athlete but an outstanding student. He is a leader, a gentleman, and a real team player. His warmth and humility endears him to everyone he meets. He is the kind of young man that the Baltimore region and the state of Maryland could look to with great pride.

Jaron is a great young man, with the heart of a champion. He has overcome a lot to be where he is, and really deserves to win this.
Jared is a fine young man who is an Eagle Scout. This accomplishment says a lot of his character and leadership. He was injured and told by medical professionals he would not be able to wrestle, however; through dedication to his rehabilitation he was able to come back, pass a physical and return not to just compete but to become a champion. Well done Jared
