I think the rap on sequels is starting to fade a bit as franchises become the norm and the overall quality of them improves. Look at the next six weeks: Cap 2, Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men 7 and Godzilla 1533 and all look like they are or very well could be better than the original. That being said, I'm looking forward just as much to Transcendence because it looks like the rare original idea (or as studios call them "potential franchises" lol).
