Sorry I missed the call and been fairly silent (unlike me). I don't get why we need to move away from workshop, unless it isn't a workshop.
Symposium is an odd term to use (both too jargon-laden and of different less collaborative meaning than workshop), and a collaborative session is a workshop.
If we're not going to be doing exercises and doing just talking, consider calling it a meeting, discussion or a symposium if you must.
If it's collaborative, then call it a workshop.
I appreciate that given my absence from discussions shouldn't make me someone to listen to, but from more of an outsider perspective I fear you may make things more opaque.
