What are your thoughts on the "table talk" rule?

It is an important part of the game and I follow it to the letter.

It is pointless and I ignore it completely.

It depends on who I'm playing with; I will follow it if there is a danger of one player dominating.

I will talk about cards in my hand, but won't share information about the encounter deck.

I technically follow the letter of the rule, but completely ignore the spirit.

I never played with someone else before, so I can't really vote. I am curious why someone wouldn't want to share what is on the encounter deck.
