I write fanfiction. In researching Shetland Ponies, I found myself making contact with actual, real-life breeders of championship "mountain & meadow" ponies. I never imagined, when I first became I My Little Pony fan, that I would eventually make friends with folk in Shetland, half a world away.

I'm a bloody farrier professionally, of course I love horses!

In fact that's part of the reason I watched MLP:FiM in the first place - I thought it was pretty funny that ponies were 'becoming mainstream' in my demographic. Turns out it wasn't exactly what was going on, but hey, it's still been fun.

I've always liked horses since I was a kid. Grew up on a farm, and my mom really liked them. We've probably had around 9-10 horses in the last 20 or so years. I had my own pony as well. I trained her in showmanship and won 6 blue ribbons at the state fair.

I've always liked horses. Even after one threw me off(Which happened to be a pony) I was a fan of mlp since g.1(skipping 2-3.5)...

My family has always owned horses. Well, my mom has. She grew up barrel racing them and doing other rodeo events, and she successfully raised my sister to take her place. But horses hate me and I hate horses. They've nearly killed me many times.

Beautiful creatures, though. Fun to draw. Not fun to ride.

Yes. I love equids of all shapes and sizes. My first experience with them was given a race horse who lived behind my house an apple. I didnt know what they were really. I gave it the apple and it decided to pull me through the fence. Not sure why either. It was never aggressive after that day. I would always visit the horse here and there and never had an issue or incident. Now I work with horses, ponies and now Miniature horses. We are training them to do tricks, we already do pony rides and 4h. Miniatures seem to really like me for some reason. Least the foals. lol

My family used to own a pair of horses and I was always afraid to go near them. I thought for sure I'd end up getting my head kicked off or trampled.

  • Applejack - 10 years ago

I liked horses just fine, but it was the "My Little Pony" fandom that got me curious in having sex with a real horse.

  • kawaipotatoe - 10 years ago

    Whats equines

  • Ssla Cyhadals - 10 years ago

I am indifferent about real life equines, just like with most animals. I keep cartoon shows and real life situations apart.

  • TalonsofIceandFire - 10 years ago

Actually, after becoming a fan of the show, real horses now kind of creep me out.

  • Nerdy_Aslin - 10 years ago

I LOVED them when I was a little kid (like a lot of girls) I kinda stopped being obsessed with them as I grew older, but I still enjoy being around them when I end up being around them, which isn't often. But yeah that's why I chose other. MLP hasn't really effected my interest in them.

  • Smithers - 10 years ago

I went for "No, and MLP hasn't changed that," but I don't really have anything against them. They simply happen to exist and tend to leave me alone and I'm fine with that.

@Scorpia: Equinoxes are great, we should celebrate them as the two times in the year when Luna and Celestia get equal billing.

@Element: Maybe other is for "I used to like equines but now I don't thanks to MLP." Not sure why that would be though; maybe because they are a constant reminder that the real world is so much less awesome than Equestria?

  • Magical Buttface - 10 years ago

Indecisive about the matter. I never really thought about it before. I never liked equines, but never not liked them either. MLP might have changed my opinion, but I am unsure if it did or not.

  • Anonymous - 10 years ago

I like horses a lot, but they scare me because they can easily trample someone.

  • Bdawg - 10 years ago

Horses are manly as shit. You know, there's nothing like riding a horse. And have you ever heard of something called the Pony Express? You know that thing that started the postal service in America? Yeah that's right, they're not just manly, they're AMERICAN as all hell. You ever seen a western where the hero didn't have a horse? Hell no, horses be straight up gangsta. Boom, just blew your minds, huh?

  • trixie - 10 years ago

real equines hot trixie hot give me secks

  • Dyrilby - 10 years ago

Does not giving a fuck count?

  • Kicks_McGee - 10 years ago

As an addendum to my previous comment about horses being badss: You know what the Vikings rode? Ponies. :]

  • Kicks_McGee - 10 years ago

Who the hell doesn't like horses? Even if you don't like to ride them, horses are majestic animals to simply look at from a distance. Girls love horses because they're pretty, and guys love horses because they're badass. You know what vehicle every soldier rode into war for thousands of years before the invention of the internal combustion engine? You got it: horses. If you don't think a destrier stallion in full barding armor riding straight at your face would be scary, you got no imagination.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

Horses! I like horses as pasture pets, I'm not interested on sitting on them and ordering them to walk this way or that.

  • Gokudomatic - 10 years ago

I always liked them. ...as a steak. But I remember. You guys are usually horrified to the idea of eating horses. That's funny, because it's a really good and healthy meat. However I wouldn't want to eat a character from mlp fim, even if I could.

  • Moonlight Avenger - 10 years ago

Always loved horses. I find them to be very elegant and intelligent.
And more pleasant than a lot of people I know.

They are one of the reasons I like the show.

  • Ebonysdagger - 10 years ago

Nope and the show hasn't changed that fact either. Why? Well... my cousin, one of the ones I tend to compare to Applejack, let me try to ride one of her horses back when I was, I think, 8 or so. In the process everything was going well until they let me try to ride on my own and the critter apparently did not want to respond well to me and in fact started to move far faster than I was comfortable with. As a result my cousin had to race her horse up to catch up and stop it and needless to say I've been rather shaken around them ever since. I also have a bit of an issue with going fast in open air too now come to think of it. One phobia and one lack of comfort around a creature all at the low low price of a minor incident. Heh.

  • Element - 10 years ago

Why is there even an other option? What would other even be??!

  • Scorpia - 10 years ago

    *equines

  • Scorpia - 10 years ago

I'm 16 now (almost 17) and have been with horses since I was like...9? 10? Somewhere around there. It's not really like I can't like them. However cleaning the stall isn't fun...nor is riding them. I was ten though so I was tiny and we were going down hill. Either way I haven't always liked equinoxes and that definitely didn't change because of MLP.

  • Random Guy - 10 years ago

I've hated real life horses ever since one tried to chew my fingers off. I love FiM because I know that these horses won't remove my fingers.

  • Muffen-Man - 10 years ago

"Wat" should be an option here, I would totally hit that option up.

  • Rockpath5 - 10 years ago

At least the majority can separate reality from fantasy.

  • Bud Friesel - 10 years ago

    CSB time.

My dad got a horse for my sister when i was about 8 or 9. Her name was Annie. We lived in a house that was rented out to my dad by the farmer that owned the farm buildings around it. Dad also got Annie from a breeder from around Cincy. She was my sisters pet, but i ended up feeding and watering her the most during that time. Seemed like she liked me. never had a problem with her.
What i didn't know at the time was two fold. 1) Annie was pregnant and she had her foal while with us. looking her colt and her react to him was a learning experience. And 2) my dad ended up selling Annie and the colt back to the breeder. Don't know why. All i know is that sis didn't speak for my dad for 3 days after that.
Since then, i do like those creatures. I hope to get to spend time with one before i die.

  • HalflingPony - 10 years ago

I've had very little contact with horse critters IRL, but those few times I have been around them were always positive. I have yet to meet an equus I disliked. MLP hasn't really changed my opinion of them, but it has increased my interest in learning more about them.

  • Qbe Root - 10 years ago

“No, but I like them a bit more thanks to MLP”
I never had anything against equines (even though a horse once threw me off its back – likewise, I don’t hate cats because I got scratched), and I didn’t have much for them either. Now that I’m a brony, whenever I see an equine, it kinda makes me think about MLP, so I guess I like them more: at least I care.

  • Rush2201 - 10 years ago

Always liked horses... 'cept when they try to bite you. Those flat teeth HURT.

  • AHH_A_Canadian - 10 years ago

I have always liked horses, and i got into an older gen of MLP when i was younger because of that. I actually like MLP a bit more because they are horses! (Just for the record, I have my own horse- Rudie. He is a 3/4 year old Standardbred (?). He is still green and we do weekly training sessions with him)

  • marley - 10 years ago

I try to ride every weekend. I have a 16 year old mare named Fly. She's a gray, half arabian and half thoroughbred. (aka anglo-arab) She's a good horse but likes to show off if she gets the chance so she's a little hard to handle sometimes but she's getting better. I also ride some of the other horses where I go to ride. Went on a real nice ride yesterday for about 10 miles.
