Based off of the town, flag has charm. It's nice to look at but to expensive to shop, live or stay. Also take not of the lower paying jobs offered in the area. So flagstaff is a nice dog and pony show to the people passing through.

It's wonderful to see friendly competition between two great towns! Although I love the real Southwest (from Santa Fe to Sedona), I must say that Main Street Georgetown is a special place.

I wonder if the people who say Georgetown is the winner have ever been to Flagstaff? I have been to both and Flagstaff is head and shoulders above Georgetown!

You absolutely can not beat the weather in Flagstaff! That alone would put it miles above anything in Texas (no pun intended).

  • Bill Riordan - 10 years ago

Flagstaff is the clear choice! Beautiful small city at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, situated within the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. Flagstaff is famous for having one of the best air quality indexes in the USA. The main street (Route 66) in Flagstaff is the location for one of the most beautiful train stations in the nation. Many movies have been filmed in and around Flagstaff, including the 1969 classic "Easy Rider" , which the opening scenes were filmed on main street in Flagstaff.

The pride Georgetown takes in keeping the Main Street and downtown square are so obvious when you come to our lovely, historic city. The buildings built at the turn of the century are lovingly restored and maintained in their original grandeur. Georgetown is growing fast in population, but still maintains it's small-town flavor due to the pride taken in maintaining our historic past. Georgetown has every right to claim to be the most beautiful historic downtown square in Texas. Just come see for yourself! you are always welcome to Georgetown!

    Georgetown hands down. Awesome place.

    Georgetown...greatest downtown in us!!!!!

Vote for Georgetown. Anyone who has visited both of these downtowns (and I have) would know that while Flagstaff is nice, Georgetown is easily the more beautiful and charming.

I have lived all over, and Georgetown, TX has, hands-down, one of the most beautiful Main Streets in the US. Not to mention one of the friendliest.

Victorian-era structures have been carefully restored and repurposed. It is economically vibrant, pedestrian -friendly and brimming with natural beauty. Norman Rockwell could not have invented a more picture-perfect downtown setting.

The Georgetown Square is truly a one of a kind gem. It is more beautiful in person than any photo can depict. If you don't believe me, come to Georgetown and see it for yourself.

Vote for Flagstaff. It is so much lovelier than Georgetown. More to do and enjoyable weather. Been to Georgetown once and I lived in Flagstaff. Would return from Texas just to go back to Flagstaff.

  • Jennifer Brown - 10 years ago

Vote for Georgetown! It's the Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas!! The picture does it no justice!!!

  • Jared - 10 years ago

Vote for flagstaff not Texas. I bet no one will want to visit flagstaff Arizona because people only follow stereotypes and they think Arizona is just desert. Well flagstaff sits at the base of the tallest mountain in Arizona 14,000ft. And we are one of the snowiest college towns in the nation, only buffalo New York gets more snow.

Georgetown is the winner, hands down. What a great place.

  • Please vote for Georgetown, TX! We started in the Texas Main Street Program in 1982 and have continued our commitment to downtown revitalization of the Georgetown Square ever since. We have the fantastic Art Deco Palace Theatre, the historic Williamson County courthouse in the center of the square, the new Georgetown Art Center, the stately Williamson Museum, fantastic restaurants, wineries, shops and fun events! Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas, is just a mile east of downtown and we are only 30 minutes north of Austin. Please come see us!

A great place to enjoy the many festivals this fine city has throughout the year.

  • Vicki Jackimiec - 10 years ago

We love our Georgetown Square Main Street. If Jimmy Stewart was still around you would expect him to be starring in It's a Wonderful Life movie right down here on our Square. Moved from Oregon 17 years ago and never looked back. We love it here!

What a beautiful town, not just the town square. Wonderful historic homes, lived in by real people. I've never met an unfriendly face while wandering the streets of Georgetown. My favorite place in town is the Georgetown Public Library. It is a library like no other in the area. Always something going on. Lots of diversity, plenty of shopping, great places to eat, a fantastic trail system. I could go on but you need to come see for yourself!

We LOVE the Georgetown Square! Just 30 minutes north of Austin, this downtown is like walking into a Norman Rockwell picture. Southwestern University is just a mile east of of the square. Please vote for Georgetown and come visit this summer!

The downtown area of Georgetown is built around the Williamson County Courthouse--towering pecan trees circle the historic courthouse and families gather for photo sessions...the wide sidewalks have benches and tables of kids eating ice cream cones and people cycling and walking their dogs. The toy store offers babysitting for parents who want to enjoy dinner at the various restaurants...art galleries offer a variety of artwork...the new art center and playground features a splash pad for cooling off...women's boutiques full of fun clothes...music on the courthouse lawn on Friday evenings...Southwestern University's homecoming parade on Main Street with floats and music...fine dining and burgers...we have it going on in Georgetown--only 30 minutes north of Austin! Great town--friendly people from all over the country moving to Georgetown! Vote for us!!

Flagstaff has the most wonderful downtown! Not mentioned in the description is Heritage Square, where there are nightly activities Thursday, Friday, and Saturday throughout the summer with music, art, and movies. With our cooler summer temperatures, the climate is perfect for strolling around downtown or enjoying an outdoor dinner and drinks.

  • Jim - 10 years ago

Been to both. Flagstaff is very pretty, but the pictures of Georgetown do not capture it's beauty. Georgetown clearly should be the winner!
