I have lived in Collierville for 15 years and we moved from Memphis so our kids could attend good schools and live in a loving and caring community!

I grew up near Rockland, ME and have been to at least half of the other small towns in this competition.

When I moved to the Memphis area, the Collierville town square called out to me. Just yesterday I enjoyed lunch there from a nearby old fashioned, family-run burger & ice cream stand. This picture is about the worst possible representation of Main St. Collierville, although the gazebo itself is the iconic image, and town logo, of Collierville.

On the N, E, and W sides of the square are buildings from the period of Civil War reconstruction, all still actively operated by family businesses. On the S side of the square is the historic railroad that was the cause of a battle in which Gen WT Sherman was almost captured. The square hosts many musical events in the central gazebo, a tribute to the musical legacy of the Memphis area, and in the late autumn the square's foliage is illuminated with thousands of Christmas lights.

The town square has retained a small-town feel despite the rapid growth of Collierville to now be a large upscale suburb of Memphis. It is an authentic, warm, and friendly heart of our (once) small town.

COLLIERVILLE!!!!! I grew up in this sweet little town. Strong community and historical town square. Very family oriented.

You didn't mention the annual Fair on the Square, the summer concert series, main street Collierville, the wonderful restaurants, the community involvement. Collierville is a wonderful town. I wonder at it being paired with a city of over 60,000. Who did the brackets anyway?

As a native of the area and former business owner of a photography studio located on Main Street in Greenville, I'm in complete agreement with the other comments here about how Greenville is showcased (or lack thereof) in the picture Parade provided.

Perhaps farther down the East end where you can actually see the 'canopy of trees with twinkling lights', horse drawn carriages (with horses that actually look very well cared for, unlike places such as Helen, GA), or a shot of the Main Street park on the West end that's won us awards in the past.

Another picture that actually shows the beautiful street for the next bracket would only be fair, rather than one that shows a couple large buildings toward the end of the street.

As a downtown resident, I can say with confidence that our downtown offers something for everyone. This post just touched on a few things, but you could visit (or live here) and find something new and exciting to do each day for a year! #FoodieMeca #FarmersMarket #MoviesUndertheStars #RooftopRestuarants #CityBikes #Arts #PeaceCenter #DowntownAlive #YappyHouratNOMA #MoonshineDistillery #WhosaidIceCream? #GourmetChefCookingClasses #IheartWine

I've been to both and Collierville's town square is more charming by far. Unfortunately parade matched towns of grossly in equivalent size and therefore the results of the poll don't reflect anything other than quantity of available voters.

You didn't mention Sunset on the Square Thursday nights, , and Bluegrass played on Friday nights by locals during the summer, families can picnic, visit, sing, dance with family and friends, while new friendships evolve. Plus, Silver Caboose, on the square is Best family dining. This is the place to be after a long work week.

I agree that a pix of Falls Park would be great. Also you could show the Farmers Market on Saturday AM

This is so skewed! Nearly every pairing has a winter picture of one town paired with a spring or summer picture of another! There are so many better pictures you could have chosen from for our beautiful Greenville, not to mention of Falls Park or another part of the street. Pick another for the next bracket!

Collierville's town square was a pivotal position during the civil war as the battles revolved around the transportation of rail to the Mississippi River, but few know of this story. With only 40,000 people residing in this small town outside Memphis, it serves to be a wonderful experience for raising a family and hosts weekly Thursday night musical concerts throughout the summer, known as sunset on the square. I am very blessed to be part of this community.

Perhaps a non-winter picture after Greenville wins this round? One with leaves on the tree branches?

  • Kim - 10 years ago

Agreed. There are so many better shots of Main Street in Greenville that show so much more!

  • David - 10 years ago

I can't believe that's the picture you took of downtown Greenville to win a contest.
