What the...?? How in the world is this angle of Main Street in Ridgefield even remotely representative of it?? I grew up in Norwalk so I don't have any emotional heritage attached to the town, but Ridgefield has to easily be one of the most charming New England towns in all of New England. The rolling hills and gorgeous fall landscapes, the small-town charm, the historical significance, the premier modern art museum, the lovely lakes... I could go on and on. And so the photographer takes a picture of Planet Pizza of all possible shots. I don't get it.

Hey Ridgefieldians -- drive up to Stew Leonard's, get a bunch of chocolate chip cookies and drown your sorrows over the bad photo.

Ridgefield truely is charming, and the photo that was chosen does not show the true beauty of this lovely quaint, historical town.

Same as all the other Ridgefielders. As a photographer, I couldn't believe how bad the picture is. If I didn't know better, I'd prefer the competition. Too bad.

Ellicott City is famous as the first terminus of the first railroad in the U.S. That is one of its many unique historical features and during the Bicentennial was a U.S. Heritage site. You have to walk Main Street to experience the ambiance of its antique shops, fine restaurants, and numerous small boutiques. It is truly a unique place.

Ridgefield is also a wonderful historic community, playing an integral part in the revolutionary war. Ridgefield has also suffered many tragedies in its 300+year history and the community has always come together. Main Street is a beautiful, thriving area with a gorgeous library, park, historical places and many unique shops. The picture chosen does not do it justice, but those who have ties to Ridgefield or have just passed through know how fabulous it really is. While I am sure Ellicott City is a nice place, it is not deserving of more votes. In fact, I hope Ellicott City gets more votes, so Ridgefield can remain the best kept secret.

David~ Nice way to show your "Maryland Pride" by calling the Ridgefield folks out for complaining about the pic. As an Ellicott City resident, I voted FOR Ridgefield. The TRAFFIC and CONGESTION in the EC pic turned me off. The LACK of traffic made Ridgefield much more desirable. Stay Classy!

This picture does not do our Main Street justice!

Ellicott City also has its own microbrewery downtown and hosts a number of art and music events throughout the year. It's very quaint and attracts a lot of visitors both from the local towns and outside of the area. It's a great place to live. I've got to agree - the Ellicott City photo does look much more appealing!

Hey Ridgefield supporters: sorry you don't like the picture they posted of your town, or that you feel the match-up is lopsided. Ellicott City is a wonderful historic community along the Patapsco River, founded as a mill town in the 18th century. It has a history of floods, fires and other tragedies, but the community has always come together to persevere and thrive. There are many people who love the community, and it just may be that it is worthy of more votes. Nothing against Ridgefield, but, no excuses are necessary.

Another example of improper matching tainting the results. Of course the town with twice the population is winning!

  • Mary Ann - 10 years ago

I agree with the other two comments. This picture doesn't begin to do justice, to this beautiful town!

  • Sara - 10 years ago

I agree, Michelle...a picture of a road and cars really doesn't do Ridgefield any favors!

The picture of Ridgefield doesn't do justice to Main Street- you can barely even see it! Let's get some more pictures of that BEAUTIFUL New England town up!!
