Someone needs to go back and look at the Federalist Papers and the entire debate/ history of our government & Constitution. This NEVER has been, nor ever will be a "Christian" country. By law and definition, we can't be. By custom, yes. But custom is NOT the law. Freedom of religion and from religion is a core concept. Too bad too many of us do not know that!
I am both Unitarian Universalist and Wiccan. Our faith community ranges from atheist to Zororastrian. And all are equally respected. That's what this country is supposed to be. Time to get with the program, people!

It should not matter what anyones faith is.. People need to grow up.. There are no such thing as witch trails.. or witches flying on their broom sticks.. The man was allowed to speech before.. just because they found out his faith.. What now their scared of him.. Or does someone dislike him and decided to stir up the community with such rumors of bad things his faith brings.. give it a rest. We are not in high school your not kids anymore..

No religion should be giving an invocation, but if it does happen, they should all be treated equally.

First of all, Huntsville/Madison Co/Madison City/insert all other governments represent all residents in their jurisdiction and none are solely Christian and Two, they need all the help and guidance they can get.
Are you so afraid of that if they wished you good morning you would be so bull headed as to actively spoil your day so does not win?

there should be seperation of church and state, but on this subject, as a member of the Asatru community everyone of any religion should be able to speak on matters.John, apparently you dont realize that there are more non christians than christians in the country. there may be more christians in the bible belt but everywhere else there are a less gross number of christians.

I am sure this is part of some stupid legal test rather than that of common sense. The lawyers seeking some sort of case in which to ply their corrupt trade. I am glad that the clown was uninvited. Next would be a Muslim, or some other fringe group. Contrary to what Obama says this is still a Christian nation. Don't like it, high tail it to a country that isn't Christian I say.

Religion and politics should be kept separate for just this reason. If you want to pray go to church not a city council meeting.

I thought religious persecution was a thing if the past. Wiccan-look it up! Not devil worship, not sacrificing things! Closer to Native American Beliefs. I have never heard a Wiccan say if you didn't believe their way that you'd burn in hell. Jus' sayin'!
