How are you going to watch Rainbow Rocks?

Equestria Girls supporters are using semantics and maybes to move the goalposts and so turning one clearly unfavorable result into a positive one.

    Why am I not surprised?

  • . - 10 years ago

Then the "digitally on the internet" option should have been divided into 2 versions (Pirating it and paying a fee) because right now, it can be easily misinterpreted as still favoring EqG's support.

And I can see you guys are going all out to try to make it sound as still counting as supporting the movie.

  • sima - 10 years ago

Actually... if I wanted to I could support the movie (aka paying for it). But how can I do that when it isn't at the cinema where I live, we don't release the dvd and my Netflix doesn't have pony at all. Either it's not watching at all for me or watch it online, I have no other choice. The MLP creators doesn't give much opportunities for NON-Americans to watch so THEY are pretty much ASKING for people to watch it 'illagally'.

  • NellzDaBlackKing - 10 years ago

But it's not set in stone that "digitally on the Internet" equals to not paying for it. Technically, you need an Internet connection to even be connected to Netflix if you're paying for it, so I can honestly say I'm watching it digitally through the Internet by Netflix and I'm paying for it. If I don't have Internet, I can't watch it whether I pay for it or not. The same could be said for the DVD people, they can say they're waiting for the DVD, but they can always buy a bootleg from someone else and support the movie. It's the way how the movie industry work unfortunately, not everybody is going to pay to view the movie and support the people who made it.

  • . - 10 years ago

Watching the movie "digitally on the internet" equals to not supporting the movie since you are not paying for it.
Netfix is a paid way to watch it digitally and thefore, it should get a separate category to avoid confusion.

  • NellzDaBlackKing - 10 years ago

Mainly this post is in response to .
The 63% that are watching it digitally doesn't mean we're all watching a pirated movie of Rainbow Rocks, some of us are actually gonna pay to watch it via Netflix. And for the ones who just won't watch it means they don't like the EG concept or they were sorely disappointed with the first movie that they won't even attempt the second one. Either way, I can sympathize with those who aren't putting money towards the movie because it's like those who went to watch Avatar The Last Airbender in theaters and were ripped off with that horrible movie. Me personally, I'm gonna watch it digitally either through YouTube or Netflix cause 1) I'm not taking any chances spending at least $10 dollars in a movie theater to see a possible crappy movie and 2) No theater in my area showed the movie of the first one so I'm expecting it'll be the same wit this movie.

  • . - 10 years ago

63% of the poll says they will watch the movie, but only if it's a pirated copy, thus not supporting it.
Only a 13% said they would pay a ticket to watch it in a teather.
And 11% will simply not watch it.

I don't see much support for this movie.

    >hi
    >Is Equestria Girls really as good as FiM?
No, and it will never be. Not now. Not later. Not in a thousand trillion years.
But that's doesn't mean EG is completely bad.

  • hi - 10 years ago

Am I the only one that thinks it's weird they're humans? It creeps me out. Is Equestria Girls really as good as FiM?

  • Jag - 10 years ago

Well, I'd love to watch it in theatres, but it's a two-hour drive to the nearest one showing it and there's no midnight showings to make it worth four hours of driving. It'd be great if the normal theatres would show awesome stuff like ponies instead of needing gourmet, elusive chains to do so. Netflix(hopefully) for me!

  • finagle - 10 years ago

'how am i going to watch rainbow rocks?' on the Internet, now what is it? never heard of rainbow rocks before this poll (im not really into the brony community, so im a little out of touch sometimes but cant wait for more episodes and movies and the like)

  • Gokudomatic - 10 years ago

The first movie didn't even come in my country, neither in theater nor in dvd nor an access to the hub. How the hay would I be supposed to watch it in a theater even if I wanted it? Of course it has to be on internet. This poll should be renamed "Are you going to watch it or not?"

  • richfiles - 10 years ago

I will watch it. I think this poll need tick boxes though. I plan to stream it ASAP, watch it on the Hub via livestream (assuming Bronystate chooses to stream it), AND buy it on Blu Ray.

IF I can have my car made reliable enough to drive the 2 hours to reach the nearest theater, then I will consider making a day of it and probably hit up the Axe Man surplus store in the Minneapolis/St Paul area while I'm there. Maybe the Science Museum as well? Could be fun!

  • Broadwayking99 - 10 years ago

I assume a lot of people are uneasy about seeing this movie in theatres but lets face it, the Brony community is pretty much the reason this movie is getting a theatrical release at all so what do we have to lose?

  • Aratur - 10 years ago

Digitally on the internet...on Netflix, Digitally on Netflix(when its released on Netflix)

  • ObtuseAngle - 10 years ago

30+ comments, and only one insulting the people who like it? Nice to see people acting more maturely than usual.

Anyway, I gave the first movie a chance, based on DHX's track record; it was moderately entertaining, but overall disappointing. Since this one's coming to the Hub in October, I can wait until then, unless the early reviews indicate a drastic improvement over the first movie.

  • Dan - 10 years ago

I'll watch it if and when it comes on Netflix.

  • Arild - 10 years ago

It's not on cinema where I live and the DVD is slow. If I'm not able to watch it online I'd have to wait 2 years more or less.

  • HalflingPony - 10 years ago

Wow. There's a lot of people in here making a big deal about the use of the word "theater". If you've ever watched a Hollywood trailer, you know that here in the U.S., we use the term "theater" to refer to movie cinemas. Of course, it is also used for the live-action performance houses you folks are discussing. (In fact, in many smaller towns, both forms of entertainment are provided by the same establishment.) Would anyone care to enlighten me what country(ies?) you guys are from that exclusively use the term "theater" for the latter? I'm genuinely curious.

  • Rockpath5 - 10 years ago

I thought it was straight to DVD.

  • lightningbarer - 10 years ago

I honestly would go see it at the theatre, if I knew it was even coming out over here in the UK.

  • unknown - 10 years ago

im gonna wait for the Blue-Ray, because its out on meh birthday :D

  • Other Anon - 10 years ago

I support MLP with my money, but I won't put any support behind EqG. So the answer to your question is bootleg.

  • Hanie - 10 years ago

Theater? It's going to be a live play? WTF?
I thought it was an animated movie to show on the cinemas. Weird.

  • HalflingPony - 10 years ago

I'm torn. If the release is anything like the first movie, the nearest theatre showing it is three hours away. The first movie was definitely worth the drive and it was kind of cool to see other bronies "in the wild", but I don't know if I want to make the trip a second time. At the very least I'll be getting the Blu-Ray.

  • sea serpent - 10 years ago

Who would be crazy enough to spend his hard earned money on this garbbage.

  • Lise - 10 years ago

    Sorry, misspelled 'theater'.

  • Lise - 10 years ago

Theatre? I thought it was a movie, why do people keep talking about theatres?

  • Zigg - 10 years ago

mmh it depends i dont know if EG2 even gets to my country, when and how. EG1 had only appeared 1 or 2 times in TV,But if it comes to theaters,i will grab my friends and go watch it.I really expect it to be bad,but i dont give a flying buck

  • Anon - 10 years ago

Theater if possible, DVD/online as fallback. The group experience of seeing it with the rest of the Herd is not to be missed. The theater fills up with half-families, half-bronies, all looking at each other and wondering why *those* people are here. The theater empties with everyone with a grin on their face and a few bronies helping clean up the theater because why not lend a hoof, and the confused staff is left wondering who the heck are these people and did that just really happen? Everybody/everypony wins.

  • bluefury700 - 10 years ago

Buccaneering is the only way for empty pockets to watch Rainbow Rocks. The nearest theater is at least 10,000 km away from me. And I should give this a chance, even if EqG is sub parcompared to FiM, but it's still good enough.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

Perhaps this poll should have been a ticky-box one as I will also buy the DVD on top of going to see it at the theatre and downloading a copy. But I think Seth said that multiple-choice polls give bad/faulty stats.

  • Groudon199 - 10 years ago

I'll be seeing it in theaters. I originally decided I'd maybe find it online after seeing the super form/magical girl transformations in the trailer (at least they were making it clear that they'd show up this time), then the 2nd and 3rd shorts made me less likely to see it. After the longer synopsis was revealed, it sounds like it'll be only at the end of the movie and it has an actual explanation, so I changed my mind.

  • Millennial Dan - 10 years ago

Looks like the large majority of us are planning to see it in one form or another.

  • Myrkott - 10 years ago

I would watch it in theaters if I could. Just for the sake of meeting other bronies and experience it with them. It would be great. But I kind of live in Sweden, so... yeah. I won't fly five hours to see it :P so streaming it is.

  • Mikideez - 10 years ago

    Piratebay FTW

  • derpyshan - 10 years ago

Looks like a small percentage will go to theaters and buy the DVD.

    Anyway, not gonna watch this.

  • HydrusBeta - 10 years ago

I'd love to watch it at the theaters, but the closest one showing it is almost a 4 hour drive away. I also don't get the Hub on my TV. So I'll probably watch it digitally first (I'm assuming someone somewhere will be streaming it), but I'll also buy the DVD to support Hasbro and for my own peace of mind.

  • Mares Fillies - 10 years ago

I'm watching it in the theatre just for the sheer feeling of watching it with other older fans bronies and pegasister alike! I'll be wearing a twilight sparkle shirt, and I'm a 22 year old college guy! Can't wait homies!

  • ZerOcarina - 10 years ago

I'd love to see it in theaters, but I kind of live in France, so I'm gonna watch it on YouTube (well, on my computer at least).

  • Stark - 10 years ago

I'll go to theatres for an actual MLP movie, but EqG is reserved for Putlocker with me.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

I'm going to see it in a theatre because it's pony AU and was/is connected to MLP:FIM. I'll have to drive an hour both ways to see it. The first one was quite good and I'm curious to find out what's the deal this time 'round.

  • Miriam - 10 years ago

Meh, not going to watch it. All the mane six wears skirts, it makes it stupid because most girls actually wear pants. I also despise the school setting, I mean where did it even come from? It doesn't make any sense. If those two major issues were absent and the story setting were more like FiM then I'd be all over humanized ponies, but as Equestria Girls stands now I just find it stupid. I even feel people only watch it because it's related to FiM, ugh!

  • Julia Roberts - 10 years ago

I will watch it digitally on the internet, and buy it on blu-ray when it come's out, i loved the first movie so i will definitely love the second movie.

  • Ebonysdagger - 10 years ago

I'll have to use the internet if I want to watch it. Anything that isn't pretty much released virtually everywhere does not get shown at the closest theaters to me and I'm not in the habit of making special trips for anything short of conventions or visiting family. I guess thanks to where I live I have to treat this much like I do the comics and rely on digital means to even get a glimpse of the story.

  • MoonlightRhythm - 10 years ago

I'd watch in theaters, just for the sheer experience of watching it with other bronies. BUT, the closest theaters playing Rainbow Rocks are HOURS away...Not worth the gas. Not for this broke college student. So....digital viewing for me!

  • Alex I. - 10 years ago

I will not be spending money to see it. I will watch it on Netflix or TV where there's no cost.
Why? Because it seems too similar to the first one based on the synopses and there's just not a good enough reason for there to be a second movie. I like Daniel's music as much as the next fan, but I think I would need to get through a lot of not great stuff to get to the stuff I would like.
I am intrigued by Meghan calling it like Empire Strikes Back, but I'm playing it safe. If it turns out to be better, I'll give due praise.

  • Anonymous - 10 years ago

No. I'm not going to watch that crap. I don't want to say anyone "at least give it a chance" I already did with the first movie, and I hated it. Fooling me one? Shame on you Hasbro (no I'm not blaming Meghan, she's FORCED by Hasbro to make it or else she would get fired, and farewell Friendship is Magic), but fooling me twice? NO THANKS!
