Well done Golden North and well done Nick X. Golden North ice cream is delicious, and it takes a considerable investment for a business to switch to palm oil free. It's sad that Golden North made the switch and did the right thing, and then got dumped. Please reverse your decision Zoos SA.

This is an absolute disgrace. I always thought Zoos' cared for animals and their welfare. Obviously Adelaide Zoo doesn't. Whoever made this decision ought to be sacked.

We agree with all the issues commented on so far, ie support SA business; use palm oil free; etc but what about the TASTE — when it comes to taste Golden North are 'streets' ahead of all the rest! This is one item on our shopping list that we won't compromise on and our family freezer has at least 3 different flavours of GN ready to spoon into waffle cones :-) We say, "Get Giant Twins back into the Zoo and put the rest out on the 'streets' "

The big problem with SA is we don't support local SA businesses and then bitch and complain about loss of jobs, high unemployment, nothing made in SA or Australia anymore.
When are we as individuals, Local, State and Federal governments going to start looking after our local businesses?
Please wake up before we lose it all and have no control of this once proud country!

Zoo Members should try and sign the petition be organised by Nick X to demand a Special General Meeting then get along to that meeting to demand the decision be reversed. Members will receive their voting papers for the Board elections in September - make sure you look for candidates who say no to Palm Oil. And then come along to the AGM in November to let the Board know you still care. Together we can bring about change!

It seems hypocritical to me that an organisation whose aim is to care for and protect all widlife would support a company that is actively destroying animals habitiat and well being. It seems that this decision means that the powers to be only see the Zoo as a business and not for it's initial purpose of saving and protecting the animals.

I am definitely against products containing palm oil. By stocking Unilever you are condoning the destruction of orangutan habitat. Golden North is a family owned, local company yet you are choosing a multinational company whose profits go overseas. Note that GN has been palm oil free for years and yet Unilever still uses it squeezing every extra cent they can with no regard to habitat loss. So they are going palm oil free this year - wow - why not years ago? Poor decision Zoos SA

Last year we purchased a family membership for 7 poeple for the year to support Zoos SA. We purchased Golden North icecream for 5 children nearly every time we went!!!!!! We live in the Northern Flinders.Come on Zoos SA show your support for local SA back!!!!

We need to continue to support the zoos, but they should not carry products with palm oil in them. do not stop going as this will only harm the animals. All zoos in australia should cancel palm oil products.
So still go to the Zoos but do not buy any products ie icecream.

It's not about the Palm Oil...It's about supporting SA. The zoo wants the SA public to support them but don't do the same for our SA businesses...Worst decision ever
