Schools have too much homework in other subjects that impact them learning math.
Our students are looking for instant gratification. They want the answer now, without any thought process on why it works.
Schools spend too much time "teaching to the test" or preparing lessons so that students can pass their state exams.

Too much reliance upon technology. Students use calculators, ipads, notebooks, laptops, etc. without a firm foundation of math literacy skills and facts.
