He never threw games or did anything that took away from baseball. I will never get the lifetime ban. Comparing it to the Black Sox scandal is ridiculous. They threw games. Not just that but the WORLD SERIES. Theres not comparison to betting on your own team and trying to win games and betting against them and throwing them on purpose. A ban was understandable, but lifetime? C'mon let the guy manage.

The idea of principle in its action against integrity is bunk and made even more so by them allowing steroid users to just destroy the record books with no thought. Watching writers talk about Bud Selig as a successful commissioner what a joke that's like saying Obama has been a successful President. Steroids allowed baseball to destroy that one pesky thing that kept getting in the way the record book and tradition. Getting rid of the pitcher hitting was just the tip, then divided leagues, then the idea they were all living in the golden age of baseball. Sadly when baseball players looked down upon Ken Caminiti and Jose Canseco who they still trash by the way were the only ones telling us the truth that the league was loaded with cheaters what did baseball do? They tried to deny it, pretend it was overblown, kept preaching the players were just bigger, better and stronger. Fans soon came to realize there was nothing better about these phony cheaters pumping themselves up to bolster there paychecks. The writer says making their teams better, really it was about their teams? It had nothing to do with their teams it was about baseball claiming we live in the golden age, it was about writers saying they were writing about the golden age, and it was owners reaping the ticket sales of the golden age. Fans came to realize there was no golden age, that these baseball farces were stealing the glory of true HOF's like Ruth, Aaron and Williams. That we fount out that so called great people like McGwire and Sosa weren't all that great deep down inside, and that guys like Canseco and Caminiti weren't rotten to the core as presented. That Palmeiro was just a banjo player, and Sosa really was a backup outfielder all along.

Enough is enough, rose served his time, let him in. What can it hurt, he was a great player and didn't bet on games as a player.

sure, let him in, and while your at it, wave the life-time suspensions for the black sox 9 also. what the hell, let them all in. who needs honor and integrity for the game. just make it a popularity contest.

Here's a thought - if a player considers betting on any game, they'll know in the back of their mind that they are THROWING AWAY FOREVER ANY CHANCE AT A SPOT IN THE HALL OF FAME. That's called a consequence, and that is the world where where adults live.

Here's a compromise: make any player who cheats/uses steroids/bets on the games/etc INELIGIBLE for HOF membership WHILE THEY ARE ALIVE. Then the whiny fans can get their cheating idol in the Hall, and the cheater will go to their deathbed never knowing if they made it. Win-Win.

I believe that Rose should be reinstated now because all "criminals" get released at some point. Rose never committed murder nor did anything that jepoidized his team. I like to think of the quote - " He who is without sin cast the first stone.
