In the Still of the Night. Hands down. No contest.
For anyone who has experienced the joy and pain of a short love affair as I once did, it's hard to beat "Just One of Those Things." Bobby Darin does a good job with it. I mean, where did he come up with "a trip to the moon on gossamer wings?"
My favorite is True Love from the Philadelphia Story
I love the lyrics to "Your The Tops." It's a great Cole Porter song but it did not make your top ten list.
I love Julie London's version of 'Love For Sale', her voice and this song are audio erotica. 'Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook' should be required listening for every student of song.
I chose Night and Day for its obsessive quality... hard to pick a favourite version, but I have a sneaking fondness for that by the German group, the Comedian Harmonists,
I also love Brush Up Your Shakespeare - "If she says that your actions are heinous/Kick her right in the Coriolanus'!
Ev'ry time is my favourite. But the clever thing about major to minor - as far as I can see - is that the chords do the opposite. Abm7 to Db7. Anyone agree?
