why do people do dumb stuff like that or thinking that doing something so dumb can make them rich by making a campany almost shut down.
Okay this is crazy. The company AXE in their advertising gives you the impression that any guy that wears it will be an instant female magnet and women won't be able to resist them. Chevy says their vehicles are, "Like a Rock". It is just marketing. Red Bull did nothing wrong. Just money hungry people.
Robin Tims it's the American way to sue instead of earning your money the hard way.
@Adam's comment: Only idiots (like Adam) are too stupid to see that the lawsuit was not about people believing Red Bull gives you wings, but about their claim that it is false advertising.
If you voted that Red Bull should have paid out the $6.5 m, reply to this comment with "Yes" -- That way, we will know who the cunts are.
SURE. Red Bull gives you wings.....
If you are stupid enough to believe this, maybe you should should test the theory and jump off of a building (very high) to test it out. If it does kudos. If it doesnt, Darwins theory of evolution doing its part to thin out the stupid herd.
its those fucking realist who caused this
I'm ashamed to hear this why would anyone think that a drink would give you wings businesses uses slogans to attracted customers. Hearing this stupidity is so shocking people need to grow up and realise that we are living in the real world no drink has ever gave someone wings before and never will do so people open your eyes and please think before you speak. Its just an advert for the company brand to make more people by the drink and it red provides so many things such as jobs and support to so many sports. This was only done so the person could receive money from it which is so stupid you have the courage to sue a company for a slogan remember this money can't buy you love, happiness, friends it can buy you fake friends that only use you for your money so please people think what you say.
with red bull air racing & the flying bulls the company does give you wings.
the add never said in what form it gives you wings.
the claim against the company is biased.
giving people dreams is also a form of empowerment!
redbull doesn't actually give you wings everyone should no that!! Red bull shouldn't get sued as people say "it does not give you wings" just because it says on there slogan "red bull "gives you wings" it just means it gives you energy from the caffeine
I have drank redbull since 2002 till now wheres my money i did not get any wings WTF
I have no wings plz return my payment I drink redbull since 2002 till 2014 plz returned my payment
Only Amercian loons (and obviously a judge) would believe a drink can make you grow wings (if you are taking the advert 'that' literally).
Obviously the tongue in cheek 'cartoon' humor flies right over their heads. The worrying thing is that a court actually believed 'Redbull gives you wings' and held Redbull responsible for it's consumers not actually growing wings and flying off.
Welcome to the asylum!
Maybe they were right to settle. I am reminded of a bit from Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men On The Bummel":
"Myself, I am of opinion that had she brought the action she threatened, she would have had no case; but our chief was a man who had had experience of the law, and his principle was always to avoid it. I have heard him say: 'If a man stopped me in the street and demanded of me my watch, I should refuse to give it to him. If he threatened to take it by force, I feel I should, though not a fighting man, do my best to protect it. If, on the other hand, he should assert his intention of trying to obtain it by means of an action in any court of law, I should take it out of my pocket and hand it to him, and think I had got off cheaply.'"
Unfortunately this american sue for anything culture is taking off all over the world and common sence is dying when will these fuckwits get a grip on reality if he or anyone ever believed a carbonated sugar and caffeine based drink could improve your mental or physical capabilities you deserve a bullet the gene pool is better off without you
Who are the biggest idiots here? The person who put this law suit forward in the first instance? The millions of people who have nothing better to do but to go on the claim website to get their few dollars back? Or Red Bull for not fighting this one and just giving in to these morons? Where will this end, A real can of worms for brands has surely been opened.
The company has for many years now implied that by drinking their product it would enhance your performance- be it physically or mentally. If it has now been proven that there is no truth in this, then other companies must take notice.
I remember many years ago an alcoholic beverage used to advertise on the TV with a slogan .... "It looks good, tastes good and by golly it does you good .... I think that products such as 'Lynx' had better watch out - they imply that by using their products - men become irresistible to the opposite sex ..... There are many claims by clever marketing companies out there ready to be taken to court!......
People these day, this man must have been on something because anyone in their right minds would know that an energy drink does not give you wing. Come on, she should be smarter than this.
Another black eye for laaaaaawya's.
Did this clown really think he could fly? That`s what drugs will do to you. He had too much time to think of dumb stuff like this. What's next? Is he gonna sue the makers of Superman because he can't fly? The idiot judge is just as dumb for even listening to the case....but this is America...a place to get something for nothing.
Have people who vote and post in here really read the article?
from the article:
"Benjamin Careathers, a regular consumer of the fizzy drink, sued the company for false advertising, arguing that after 10 years drinking Red Bull he neither had wings nor any enhanced athletic or intellectual performance."
Obviously it is not about growing literally physical wings(!?) But rather improving the drinkers' physical and mental performance.
I sit here and laugh at people when they really believe in the logo Red Bull give you wings come on now Red Bull give you energy
It was an advert that is using metaphors. can't believe that courts would allow this level of, I will go for ignorance, as can't really say what is really going through my mind
This is immoral, I doubt that anyone really expected to become faster, fitter or intellectually greater than they where before drinking the caffeinated drinks
Shame on them for suing
The can should have a warning saying " don't drink if you are stupid to believe everything you see in our commercial " I like red bull and I know it's not going to make me fly but it will taste good drinking it.
Just a thought maybe if a company falsely advertisers it should be told
to change it then if it does not then use litigation,or is that too difficult.
Yes Americans are stupid.
As David has just said "Only in America". What a sad society it is where they make such claims against what is intended to be a bit of fun. Jeremy Clarkson has the right opinion of Americans, after a family tried to sue him for trying to "give" them a car, just because he had incorrectly stated what year it was made. I don't think their is much hope for the Yanks.
These misleading advertisements ought to be stopped as consumer are vulnerable esp., the kids only believe in what they hear n see. Cunning businesses must be fined heavily.
What is the definition of 'wings'? Clearly they were NOT claiming that people would start growing physical wings, not even in America. Anyone who has used Red Bull knows that it gives you a 'lift' and that is the predictable effect of consuming Caffeine in a substantial dose. Therefore Red Bull DOES give you 'wings' and it is a totally appropriate metaphor to use - except perhaps in the U.S where their grasp of the English language is open to question.
So what of all of the other rash claims that we see in American advertising? Things like products that cure baldness or claims to be good for weight loss? They are actual claims rather than metaphors. And what about other U.S advertising metaphors? "Your Daily Ray of Sunshine" - Tropicana.
Anyone think of any other examples?
Maybe this is an example of American justice against a non-U.S company.?
Only in America! Next someone over 50 will sue the makers of face creams (en mass) because after using the stuff for years her skin has not turned into that of a baby's backside.
Typical yankee crap claiming anything they can yo get some cash! red bull are stupid enough to settle then thats it! Might claim them myself fell off the back fence trying to fly!! total crap eh!!!!
I HAVE DRANK RED BULL FOR YEARS AND DID NOT FOR ONE MOMENT THOUGHT I WOULD WAKE UP ONE MORNING WITH THE ABILLITY TO FLY. I DID HOWEVER FEEL A LITTLE MORE AWAKE AFTER DRINKING IT. I THINK IF LARGE AMOUNTS OF RED BULL ARE CONSUMED THEN YOUR HEART WILL RACE MAKING YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE MORE ENERGY SO THIS I CAN BELIEVE BUT ENHANCING PERFORMANCE IS NOT POSSIBLE. RED BULL IF YOU DRINK IT COLD IS JUST A NICE DRINK AND REFRESHES YOU. FOR RED BULL TO BACK DOWN SO QUICKLY I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE CONSUMED SOME OF THEIR OWN PRODUCT AND WOKE UP.
It's on the level of the American woman who sued a microwave oven manufacture because she put her pet into one and killed it, unfortunately there are some Brits with the same kind of mentality and it is only a matter of time before it happens here.
how bloody stupid of some daft American to try and fiddle compensation for gods sake its an advert its fun it brings your attention to the brand its tongue
in cheek humour all advertisers do it to make there brand stand out plus red bull provides jobs and support to so many sports
