Would you pay $10 to $13 for Wi-Fi on your flight?

AC power is more important than wi-fi, although we need both. Northwest now has AC in the front of the coach section of certain planes, so Alaska is no longer my airline of choice. But yes, I would pay for wi-fi. I suspect airlines could command a premium for coach seats up front that have AC, wi-fi, and seat backs designed without a tray-table recess that catches (and can destroy) an open laptop when the seat is reclined.

2 years ago SAS airlines offered Wi-Fi on their transatlantic flights for something close to $15 and I loved the service. I don't know why they don't offer it any more, but I'll tell you something - even for the 3 hours (that long my laptop battery could accommodate) it was so worth it. I remember calling my mother through the Skype - 3 hours before the landing..... when flying over the ocean and chatting with my husband. I could read the news.... chat with my friends and even call them (obviously I didn't abuse that service to not annoy others around me. Great idea for those of us who live around the internet. And the price is not bad - cmonn..... you are 10000 feet above ground and you pay only $13??? Go to kinkos - even with your laptop you pay like $0.30 per minute.....

I hope it will become common and available on every airline.

This is pretty useless unless they're going to provide AC power for laptops at the same time... When my wireless is on, my laptop lasts less than two hours. I'm not going to pay nearly $20 for just two hours of web access. But if they have a laptop power port and I'm on a long flight, sure, this makes sense. Just to kill time.

I wouldn't surf the net continuously but it would be nice to jump on every so often. I can't wait. Hell, I paid 12 bucks for one of their sandwiches and a beer my last flight. I'll start eating pretzels and drinking water from now on.

As there is barely enough room in seats to sit upright and cross your arms, how does anyone expect to operate a laptop in that environment?

The only way that paying that much for wi-fi would make sense to me is if it will allow you to use your cell phone via wi-fi. A laptop is just a hassle to use on a flight unless you are in first class or business class with a bit of room to move about or if you are a petite person or child. Otherwise I can hang with my iPod and watch a movie or listen to music for the duration of the flight and wait to connect to a hotspot when I get to my destination.

most tray tables don't accommodate laptops when the person seated in front of you is reclined. I hate reclining seats.
