Halfords are bribing places like the health service and many other public bodies as they contract them to the Halfords scheme. They offer the particular organisation a kick back of 13% on all bike sales. So in some public service sector, such are the Health Trust in Northern Ireland, this public body gets a 13% kick back from Halfords ! This is a scandal - this is a public body forcing their employees to use Halfords limited (with fairly average brands) on a government approved scheme and taking back payment from Halfords for doing so. This should be exposed. The point in the C2Work schemes is to promote healthy living and better lifestyles through a tax incentivized scheme - not to line the pockets of Halfords and take a bribe "commission" back to the health services. This is also acting against the interests of promoting IBS across the UK. The Trade needs to speak out about this unfair practice !

As an independent bike shop, I lost 90% of my cycle to work customers to Halfords who signed up most of the large local business, such as the Post Office to their own scheme. Now all the local workers have no choice but to travel the 50+ mile round trip to buy a bike and are not able to support or shop local? The Scheme seems to have lost it's way and doesn't support local. The Government will soon be handing out contracts to single suppliers where you can only buy from one shop/company per region?
