As much as I would welcome a new song for the opening credits just because I expect Daniel Ingram would make it totally awesome, the theme in the theme song is a call back to all generations of the show and therefore has a special status. Whilst it could be updated, as it was for the Equestria Girls movie, I suspect it won't for another reason: Money. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Expect an updated animation for the opening sequence, though. There's that new castle (play set) to show off!

I don't want therm randomly changing the theme song. The current one isn't perfect but it wouldn't feel right without it. I'd be ok with a remix like they've done with South Park's theme song several times over the years but the theme song is a part of the show as far as I'm concerned and it should be kept.

Now imagine that as the actual theme for one of the episodes. Think what the story would be like! Spike goes on an epic adventure to undo the deletion of all ponies from reality! Possibly teaming up with Discord, Zecora, and any other non-pony characters they come across.

They have updated the video and the music several times over the seasons, in little ways. That's all the change I'd want to see. And no, assholes, they should NOT get rid of the classic "My Little Pony, My Little Pony" jingle in the very beginning. NEVER FORGET YOUR ROOTS.

YES please! I like the theme song, but after 4 years it kind of gets old. Same with the video, please make a new video with the new theme song! Make it 20% cooler, lol.
Definitely YES. Four years on and I still kinda cringe at the beginning of the theme song, and I always skip it when showing first-time viewers. Daniel Ingram should incorporate the main motif (the tune of "My little pony, my little pony" but without the vocals), and then transform it into something completely new. In fact one of the awesome things about Season 1 is that William Anderson often wove that motif into the background music, but didn't overdo it. It reminds you that MLP:FiM is part of something bigger that has lasted 30+ years, but keeps it fresh. Listen to the finale BGM of the fight against Nightmare Moon. It's an epic, goosebump-inducing use of that motif.
Also, despite how cringe-worthy the G3 stuff was, I think they had the catchiest and most memorable theme of all the cartoons. I wouldn't mind a return to a similar style.
I've never much cared for the current theme song, so I'd love to see them change it up a bit. That said, I really like the strategy Ingram employed for the current one- making is recognizably "My Little Pony" for the first few notes and then doing its own thing. I hope they never jettison the classic jingle.

I think Badly Drawn Turtle has the right idea here. I actually voted for the "don't change it" option, but I'm of pretty much the same opinion. Remember how many people loved that EQG remix of the theme? Maybe tone that down a little, keep it a little closer to the original, and BAM a new yet familiar theme that (hopefully) keeps everyone happy.

I voted for the "don't really care" option, but my opinion is more complicated than that. I like the theme song. It's nice, recognizable, and it tricks you into thinking it's an older generation at the beginning before zinging off into Awesometown. At the same time, I realize that many series do update their theme songs from time to time, and it wouldn't be horrible if that happened unless the new theme wasn't well done.
And then there's the fantastic compromise option: What if they took the current theme and remixed it? With the same genre of music, the same base, but a fresh take on the concept? I'm talking more than just the touch-up they did at the beginning of season 2, but still with enough of the original left to recognize it.
I can dream, can't I?

YES. PLEASE. Other countries have MUCH better sounding theme songs for the show. What's wrong with changing a repetitive theme song? NEVER too late for change. Honestly, my LEAST favorite aspect of MLP is the theme song. Perhaps change the overall rhythm while retaining the themes of friendship, kindness, etc? Please make it happen. ^.^
Don't change it. It's too far into the series to all of a sudden come out with a new song. Maybe they could change a bit of the instrumentals, but this is the theme that's been with the show for 4 years. There's no reason to change it.
