Tyree's catch was the most important catch in team history. But Beckham's catch was other worldly.

I still believe the helmet catch was better. OBJ was incredibly athletic but so was Tyree's. Let's not forget that he had to fight a defender who was trying to rip the ball off while falling to the ground! OBJ made an incredible effort but Tyree had to work much more in order to make sure the pass was complete. And yes the fact that it was during the superbowl & the Giants won means something because he knew if he dropped that ball the game was over.

I think as far as degree of difficulty goes, Beckham's catch was the better of the two. Three on the other hand had the best catch in a big game, not to mention they won the game. But if you take the game and situation out of the equation and compare them as just two catches in any game, Beckham has the more impressive catch. Tyree's is still outstanding though.

Beckham catch is the best athletic skill catch I've seen. And I'm a Minnesota fan so I grew up watching Randy Moss catch Randy's(one handers) over and over. BUT nothing can compare to the stage of the Helmet Catch. Watching The Helmet Catch is the greatest nfl memory I have and in not even a Giants fan.

prisoners of the moment going on right now. tyree's catch wasn't luck. it wasn't skill, but will. he wanted it so bad that tyree was coming down with that no matter what. remember, he still held on with one hand and the ball on the helmet with one of the best and strongest defenders trying to rip the ball out, in a superbowl trying to defeat the undefeated!!!! OBJ was like nothing i've ever seen, but moments should count and to discredit the tyree catch by calling it luck just to justify the stance that OBJ's was the best ever is a disgrace!!

Close call, but I give Tyree the edge. I still do not know how Tyree made the catch in contact, prevented the ball from being ripped loose despite having an arm through his own, and managed to prevent the ball from hitting the ground--even if he was fortunate to have a defender to fall on, he had to adapt to a situation he had never prepared for. With all due respect to Beckham, as incredible as they are, he practices those catches. I can guarantee you that Beckham never practiced a helmet catch, he had to come up with that on the fly in a must-catch situation on the biggest stage in football.

beckham! fouled, 3 fingers and a touchdown! tryee was great but if he didnt fall on top of defender the ball might have hit the ground and came loose, he fell on top of him, beckham was clean, one handed and he was fouled and was a touchdown and he stayed in bounds all on one play, tryee was more important but beckham was a better overall catch

DAVID TYREE! Are you guys crazy - Tyree's catch is probably one of the greatest catches of all time - 1:15 left in the Superbowl - 3rd down and Giants need to score - Eli about to get sacked three times, take another look before you decide - Tyree gets amazing height just to get his hands on the ball first, then slammed mid air by Harrison including getting his arms whacked by Rodney Harrison and still manages to keep the ball from being incomplete by holding it against the back of his helmet with one hand as he is falling backwards then has the wherewithal to keep it from hitting the ground. Oh do you remember that this Patriots team was also going for 19-0? Put that in the mix and you will understand how monumental this catch was. We will never see a catch like that again in the history of football since current rules would give Harrison a flag for roughing the passer, that is where the game has gone to.

Beckham's catch while a great catch physically is made without contact at the time of the catch, he would not have been able to make that catch if he was getting hit at the same time even with the little pass interference so you cannot compare the two catches - finally it was a meaningless game for an unremarkable season that will be long forgotten - anyone who voted for Beckham's catch is playing Devil's advocate. Also if you watch the video again, it is not a three finger catch by Beckham, he has his palm well places to bear the brunt of the ball and slow it down perfectly to allow him to one hand it. It was an athletically amazing catch and I am happy we have him has a Giant - I see a bright future in him as a player he will be special but very few nothing can be compared to Eli's and Tyree's miracle.

I feel that the Tyree catch was GREAT an it helped keep the drive alive to win the Super Bowl ..... Me growing up with Dave I know it was a great catch but the ODB catch was like the MATRIX in real life !!! Imma have to go with ODB on this on though . I wish we could've got the win as well but hey we are rebuilding an you know how we do when we go ALL IN !!! #BIGBLUE4Life

Beckam's catch was far better. The only reason Tyree's catch was good and of importance was because of the whole drive itself! How Manning dodged the sacks and because they needed that defeat.

The Tyree catch was the most important catch due to the situation and stage, as far as keeping the game winning drive alive in the Super Bowl against an undefeated Patriots team, who if they won, would be considered the best team of all time. Easily, the most important catch in Giants history.

But as far which catch was better, the Beckham catch was by far a better catch. The body control just to stay in bounds after getting mugged, then to maintain focus on the ball, then to be able to leap and arch, and finally stab the ball one handed, not by the point but by the meat of the ball, with three fingers no less. Incredible. Best catch in the history of the NFL, even though it is one of the least significant catches as the Giants lost and wouldn't be going anywhere even if they won.

the question is about the best catch, not the most important catch. half of the amazingness of the tyree catch was eli's ability to escape the sack (which would have pretty much ended the game) and get the throw away. as for the catch, there was never a bigger catch in a big moment other than a small few that can compare (santonio holmes, for example). but the BEST catch? OdBJr all the way. behind him, getting pulled down, by the sideline, with 2 fingers and a thumb. insane.

David Tyrees catch was incredible, and more than likely a more important catch -- I have never seen anything like Odell Beckham Jr's catch!

    that catch blew me away
