Should All Aboard Florida move its high-speed passenger train service to the west so it follows the right of way adjacent to I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike?

I had to question where all these no voters reside, but I see donna dickerson more or less already asked this question a couple of months ago. a none related comment: I had to chuckle to myself after reading that
Mr. DONALD ROBINSON resigned as co-president of AAF after signing a 2.25 billion dollar deal with Siemens
to supply railroad cars. He will pursue a resort and hospitality business. MAKES YA WONDER.

In South Florida, the AAF trains will run on the eastern set of tracks, the ones that largely parallel Dixie Highway. Tri-rail runs on the western set of tracks. Ironically, this is exactly backwards from how it should be. The eastern, older set of tracks runs through the middle of each downtown that it passes through. If Tri-Rail ran on that set, it would be far more useful for commuters to congested downtown areas like Ft Lauderdale. AAF trains should run on the western set, bypassing the heart of the downtown areas. I know this isn't exactly the east-vs-west routing that the survey is asking about, but it's worth mentioning.

When will the NIMBYs in the Treasure Coast come up with something new to say? Everyone keeps repeating the same talking points over and over, despite the fact that we have proved NONE of them are true.

EMS access issues? It doesn't happen today anywhere else in the country where there are already more trains than this -- why will it happen here?

Property Values? There has been NOTHING shown that adding passenger rail to an ALREADY IN USE rail line has ANY effect on property values.

Destroy businesses? These trains will be close crossings for 90 seconds PER HOUR. Less than the length of a single traffic light. That will not keep people away from businesses. The fact of the matter is that future stops in these downtowns will HELP the businesses.

    Out west!

The federal rail plan called for the new rails to be placed out west but our idiot governor turned the already allocated federal dollars down in favor of his rail buddy Adam Hollingsworth.

To the people complaining about congestion out west - don't you think there will be much more congestion if we have 30 trains per day running THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF TOWN?

We lived for seven years close to the FEC tracks in Hobe Sound and moved west to get away from the noise and congestion. Moving the train into the I-95 corridor would create an even bigger nightmare. Traffic would back up onto I-95 from already too short exit ramps. EMS would be unable to transport accident victims on the interstate and turnpike to local hospitals. This "move it west" idea sounds a lot like WHAM's idea to move Witham Field. Just stick it in someone else's backyard! This train is a terrible idea. The solution isn't to move it, it's to stop it.

I think that the AAF is a terrible idea for the Treasure Coast. It will impact historic areas, travel through congested areas at very high speed and have a negative environmental impact. If they want to have a high speed put it down the center of the state.

The entire nation is seeing a resurgence of mass transit. Ridership is up, and car ownership and miles driven are down. AAF will be the impetus for Tri Rail and Amtrak to start serving the Treasure Coast. And yes, I think it's funny how the poll is getting noticed by supporters of AAF. If the FNAAF folks can comment in forums in West Palm and further south, we should be free to contribute up there as well.

You forget, the other railroad is owned by someone else, not affiliated with AAF. AAF could not move there even if they wanted.

I voted NO once and live in Stuart, FL. How stupid can you get trying to buy and build an entire new ROW when FEC already owns the ROW? Is TC Palm just a shill for NAAF? Let's see some balanced coverage!

Who will pay for it to move west? We the People voted for a bullet train back in 2000 that would have paralleled I-95 from Miami to Orlando and I-4 from Orlando to Tampa, but we were then bamboozled by Gov. Bush to shut it down in 2006.

FECI already owns the infrastructure from Miami to Cocoa. Maybe the NIMBY's in Jupiter, Stuart, etc, should start a chip in to fund a new infrastructure. Never mind the fact that the FEC has been there for over 100 years, longer than anyone living there has been alive.

This issue is more than a regional one. It has an effect on more people than those that have chosen to live on Florida's century old lifeline. Florida's population will be around 23.4 million in 2020 (US Census Bureau). Alternative methods of transportation are needed to cope with Florida's growth.

Who's going to pay to move it west? The infrastructure is already in place now, where it is.

The train geeks have a campaign going to skew this poll. They are encouraging voting from multiple accounts. They're so excited that they've figured out how to do this, it will probably go viral on the Railfan websites. Now.... find out how many voters actually live in the area.

    Yes, move it west
