Do You Watch Cartoons or Anime Outside of Pony?

@La-Minuet Well, I'm busy with school and other work, babysitting, and so much that I don't have time to watch other shows. I watch movies, My Little Pony FiM episodes, and fan stuff on the internet.

That many people only watch ponies. While ponies is great and all as well as one of my most favorites I can't imagine how such limited entertainment can be fun for that long. No wonder why so many of you are all impatient waiting for new seasons. Variation is the key everyone, there's plenty of stuff out there as good as ponies. I never get bored personally.

@kitsy: My Little Pony Tales is G1. There has never been a G2 cartoon.

This was a really dumb poll. You could say MLP is an anime and a cartoon. What if you DID watch cartoons? What if you DID watch anime? This should be re-done.

@Don Yes, cartoons are art in motion, but it is highly exaggerated to suggest that the drop in quality is a recent thing. The past often looks like a golden age because it's the good cartoons that live on in memory and syndication. For instance, you mention The Flintstones (Hanna Barbera). Hanna Barbera put out so many horrid cartoons, often repurposing their flagship characters in new scenarios (racing, balloon trip with an environment theme) and taking a bunch of episodes from one show and repackaging them as a new show with a slightly different name. That was 30 to 40 years ago. Go back further and you have really cheap animation for Hercules, Marvel, Cecil and Beanie... awful stuff.

@Silvadel Periods of good cartoons come and go. The only real change over time has been technological.

I have strange tastes and high standards... Ok so I liked G2 Pony tales... and G4 ponies... I liked tales because for its time the animation quality was fairly good.

But i also liked cartoons like Airbender and Korra... good animation great stories. Justice league unlimited, again good animation very good stories. As well as Young justice. Very dark.

For anime, it needed a good storyline, and good animation. Past that good music was always a Plus. Things like macross and ranma, Girls Und Panzers and Kampfur, Some versions of Gundam were ok.

The only cartoon I watch is Gravity Falls. C: And I've seen a BUNCH of animes.

  • Gibsont - 9 years ago

I adore both Gravity Falls and Steven Universe, as well as Over the Garden Wall if that counts. No animes yet, thought recommendations would be nice.

I watch MLP, Gravity Falls and Legend of Korra (even though it just had it's series finale Dx )
Anyway because it looks like so many people watch anime, can someone recommend a good anime show because I don't know any and it could be fun to try some :)

I watch other cartoons and anime, as well as MLP. However, and I know I'm not going to make many friends in saying this...I find Adventure Time to be seriously overrated. I mean, it's not a bad show, but is is FAR from the show people say it is...

I honestly prefer both MLP and Gravity Falls, shows I never thought I'd like.

I vote both because I watch Futurama and adv. Time. Otherwise i would say anime only.

Bogus question, Ever see Fred Flintstone sell cigarettes? Jonny Quest blasting his enemies with bullets and you saw the bodies fall, Fritz the Cat? Wizards? and a host of foreign flicks in animation ,,,,

You seldom see any well written stories, , ,Animation was once an art form for everyone
Now days it's a commercial for selling toys or a baby sitter for abandoned children.

Anime and Cartoons are the same thing.
This poll along with the last one is meaningless.
Also Dog Days > Friendship is Magic

  • Silvadel - 9 years ago

Actually -- are there any good new anime series recently? I had watched quite a few but the TV outlets for them have been REALLY SPARSE of late.

  • ZecoraBestZebra - 9 years ago

But...Anime and Cartoons are technically the same thing...

    Just different influences.

  • Silvadel - 9 years ago

I used to watch a lot more anime than I currently do. I think that is a matter of G4 and cartoon network and toonami etc being gone or having diminished showings of interesting anime, youtube is a LOT more proactive at removing anime series that have been placed upon it, and I have been too busy to go far afield to find it.

Cartoons I watch if it is something I enjoy. The current series I enjoy is My little ponies. I didn't always turn off pound puppies when that came on after. Thing is there are FAR fewer cartoon series these days. I mean, I liked the original x-men cartoons, gargoyles, tiny toons, looney toons going further back, Justice League Unlimited,

I think that I and others are watching fewer cartoons and anime than we did at one time is more that the genre isn't putting out as much quality shows more than people losing interest.

I have watched some anime, but this poll question is in the present tense.

Adventure Time and Gravity Falls are a big plus for me.
