NPH was terrific given the material he had to use. It was refreshing not to be subjected to the present "chic toilet/guys locker room no holds barred current shtick" that passes for humor ... it was more or less GRated... AND kids DO watch it! The pace was steady & quick MOST of the time. Gaga was phenominal! NPH. and Gaga are truly talented & a pleasure to watch . Sean Penn ... not so much.
I am a Neil fan n always will be! My heart went out to him whn no one laughed at some of his jokes... But the writers had a hand in tht n Neil had no choice but to say it anyways! I will always root for Neil! Great Job, Neil.... Love ya! Muah....

He was safe...and terribly boring. The varied and numerous past hosts and hostesses were all funny from start to finish (oops...I forgot Anne Hathaway and James Franco). I have to blame the writers, too. The planned skits such as talking to the seat fillers and the 'secret predictions in a locked case' were unfunny. It was painful watching NPH trying to make them funny. And did you notice the number of times he chuckled at his jokes...and no one else was laughing?

NPH came off as snarky and full of himself. Humility would have been received better. He needs to stick to the Tony's. This stage was a bit too big for him. And, the underwear scene? No thanks!

I think he did a great job especially at the beginning it was amazing didn't really care for the Oscar picks envelope he's probably the best I've seen yet

I loved NPH and his wordplay! It took "a lot of balls" to recover from a few sad, gloomy and controversial moments. Laughed out loud for some "treason."
