You people alle need glasses. The dress, which in fact really is a balakuschka, is purple, eggshell yellow, sephia, orange and deep turquise. I must also add that it is No longer in fashion.

I have always only seen this dress as blue and black, no matter what light i see it in and no matter night or day. My sister sees blue and black too, but my boyfriend sees gold and white. I see that most of the people have voted that they see white and gold, but it is wrong!
The woman who owns the dress was on Ellen Degeneres show and the dress actually IS black and blue, Ellen Degeneres did see gold and white too but when the woman came with the dress on her body everyone saw that the dress is black and blue.
But it is really weird that most of the people sees white and gold?! why?!?!!? It is wrong??
I see blue and black no matter what light and everything!

Ser alle disse fargane ved å endre innstillinga på skjermen. Når lyset vert dårleg vert kjolen meir blå og svart. i godt lys kvit og skjete gull. Gullfargen er nok av ein art som mange eldre likte på møbler før. Synes gull fargen tenderer mykje mot brunt og tildels litt grønt og gult.

spørs hvilken farger du ser på bakrunnen på pcenen din, ser du hvitt blir den hvit og gull, ser du på noe mørkere blir den blå\lilla med svart, ser du på noe litt lysere blir an rargrønn og turkis.

Artig! Da bildet spredte seg på face for en tid tilbake, så jeg kjolen som blå og svart. Da var det kvelden og mørkt ute, så inne hadde jeg tent lamper. Nå oppfatter jeg den derimot som hvitaktig med gullfargede striper. Har vært ute i et fantastisk vårvær hele dagen, og store vinduer med herlig kveldssol skinner mot meg mens jeg ser på bildet. -jamfør artikkelteksten!!

dette handler egentlig om hvordan folk oppfatter et enkelt spørsmål hvordan ser egentlig kjolen ut i virkeligheten eller hvordan ser den ut på bildet kunskapsbygging blir dette aldrig ser jeg det er kansje derfor ikke mange gidder å kommentere mere en det de gjør !!

fargene i bildet er korrekte i seg selv men når ettermidasolen lyser inn vinduet med overvekt av lange bølgelengder av lys å koboltfarge tilsatt i det hvite stoffet så blir det for mye for filmen /kameraet å gjengi korrekt, kobolt blir brukt som hvitestoff koboltfarge er blått men blir brukt for å dra gjennomsnittet over i det blå området av bølgelengder sån at det hvite stoffet ser pent å skinnende hvitt

the age is a guess but the colors in the rest of the pictures
suggest that.the dress is probably home made beautifully done a lot
of work.

How come nobody has even bothered to run this through even the most basic picture editor?
I opened up the picture in freaking MSPaint and took a few samples of both colours:
It came up as different shades of yellow to brown and a bluish white... The dress it self might be blue and black, but in this picture it IS gold and white.
It takes 20 seconds in any image editor to figure it out, yet I've seen nobody to it yet. Weird.

Is the journalist changing the picture? When I looked at it this morning it was CLEARLY White and Gold, I come to the office and it is without doubt Blue and Black. wtf? So sorry I didn't get a screenshot this morning.

Most people are color blind, - yes, that makes sense. :)
The dress is blue and black, there is absolutely no doubt about it. (There are other photos of the same dress to verify this).
Color perception is context dependent however. This means that if you wear something white and the light is colored you still see the color as white (it it white relative to the other things araound it). This is probably why many people see the dress as white, like their percetion of the light in the photo is a blue light.
If you want to test the actual color in this picture use a color picker tool and see for yourself. - It's blue and dark grey.

For me it has yet to change, it remains a bluish white dress with gold/beige brown stripes. Rather mixed colours, no pure ones.
