Buffy Forever...and always ALWAYS go with Buffy
I am surprised and also super happy that House MD pulled ahead and is now winning by so much. I have never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I have watched House. That is why I voted for him
I can't comment on House since I never watched it. As far as Buffy goes, it has some of the best episodes in tv history in my opinion. The silent episode Hush was funny and scary, to the musical episode Once more with feeling which was also funny and a tearjerker. The Body episode where her mother dies is one of the best portrayals of death I have seen. The relationship between Tara and Willow as a couple was flawless. And who can forget Giles?!

I HAVE to give this one to Buffy though I prefer Angel (although both crapped out after their third seasons) because I've never watched House. My best friend used to recap episodes that caught her interest to me over AIM years ago, years before I ever watched Buffy actually, but medical stuff unsettles me.
BUFFY!!!!!!!!!! Though, the show was late 90's to early 00's...so just putting her in the 00's is a tad wrong...she is up against others that were only in the 00's.
Buffy All the Way!! To date, one of the BEST shows ever made!! and the best writing ever there was thanks to Joss Whedon!! This show was witty, funny and fun, yet also touched on all the facets of life (love, death, addiction, friendship, etc...) but all wrapped in wonderful supernatural package of awesomeness. Buffy ALL THE WAY!!

I've actually never watched House but have gotten pretty close via having episodes recapped to me by my best friend. Medical stuff kinda unsettles me.
House was one of the total most refreshing shows I had every watched. I would record the whole season, then when it was done, I would make a Sat. or Sun. and spend the whole day snuggled with myself & my 2 Pomeranians, all snuggled up ......BEST DAY OF THE MONTH OR THE WEEK. Just love him & the crew. Wish they would bring it back because I' on my last episode..... : (
House wins this one, Buffy was great, but got a little off for several seasons.. enjoyed Angel better (only 1 off season there)
This was tough, because they were both great shows. But I never stopped watching House.
Buffy made Angel into a puss, and I had a hard time getting over that.

House is good, if you wanna watch an eccentric Doctor who's addicted to pain medication and actually BRITISH but forced to speak with an American accent (in Heaven's name, WHY?); and if you actually WANT to watch a show that talks about INTERNAL stuff, all too often focusing on stomachs, colons and poo....BUT if you WANT TO SEE HORROR ADVENTURE with a SUPER FLY, SOLID MUSCLE, TEENAGE SHERO, who's as witty as she is BEAUTIFUL, a series that will have you peeing yourself laughing one minute, and freaking you out the next, all BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN and Directed by the GENIUS, Joss Whedon, then BUFFY'S what you want to see! I've got EVERY EPISODE, THE PILOT, and AN ENTIRE PACKAGE OF SPIKE EPISODES, all on DVD!
I feel so sad for the people saying Buffy was a kids show as they obviously never watched it. There is no other word for it, I'm just sad that they missed out on such an awesome show.
House was good and I enjoyed it. Hugh Laurie played the character really well. However, there are very few episodes of House that I have seen more than once, nor would want I to. But an episode of Buffy comes on (that I probably have seen at least 4 times), I stop what I'm doing and watch, then pull out my DVDs and watch Hush and Once More With Feeling. Because Awesome.
Everyone: House is hands-down, THE BEST TV character ever!!! He is a refreshing combination of smart, thought-provoking, complicated, sophisticated, realistic, focused, interesting, fascinating, and dedicated personalities. Btw, Laurie Hugh delivers the character brilliantly!

Buffy all the way! Love House, don't get me wrong i have the complete 8 seasons on DVds but you can't compare these two. Buffy saved the world a lot. Not only that was one of the first tv shows that dealt: homosexuality , racism, teen suicide, bullying, school shootings, strong female characters, stalking. Buffy even have a college course! The story lines where up to par to what any teenage kid dealt any day in their high school minus the Vampires, even thought some high school kids can suck the live out of you. The episodes " The Body" dare you not to cry your eyes out or "Hush"and sleep with the light off. And these are only 2 episodes out of the 147 or so episodes. Who can't forget when Dawn appeared on the show, wow, or when Angel turned into Angelus and why that happen. Omg. The short answer if you are a hypochondriac watch House, but if you want to find out from where all of this new movies with strong female leads after 2003 came out watch Buffy you won't be disappointed

I have worked in a hospital for a long time, and believe me, all doctors have a "House-like" attitude--especially the Surgeons. I never knew why people thought House was entertaining. A cranky arrogant dr is not very interesting when you work with them everyday! Besides, the few times I watched the show I had guessed the underlying illness within the first 15 minutes--for real. Buffy gets my vote. I went to France in 2007 and walked into essentally a dollar store there and it was plastered with Buffy merchandise. Buffy was a sensation all over the world. I never saw any House stuff though.

Both great shows. one of my best friends told me I reminded him of House (I'm still not sure if he really thought that was a compliment or was being passive aggressive). The shows are an apples to oranges comparison.
But on the argument of character, I need to vote for Buffy. She was original and a leader in the genre of strong female characters.

OK seriously Buffy saved the world...A LOT...keeping her puns and her stakes sharp and still looked hot doing it. She died not once...but TWICE. Even took on gods and monsters and WON.

BTVS had a musical episode. AND it was great ! Anyone seen 'House, the musical' yet? Didn't think so.
Both are brilliant characters, but Buffy had significantly more character development. Whatever you want to say about Buffy's character, you can't deny BTVS is a far superior TV show as a whole. The hidden clues and foreshadowing alone makes it a fascinating watch. Somehow I'm not a fan of other vamp tv shows like true blood or vampire diaries. Sure they are entertaining, but they lack substance and meaning. Also most tv shows made after Buffy finished, which is many on this list, contain characters really similar to those on Buffy because they were so great.
I loved Watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer. For me it was an escape after something very bad happened in my family. My nine year old cousin was Murdered. I had to deal with bullies picking at me about how he died. Teachers didn't do a thing about it. SMG Became my hero after season three The episode Ear shot literally saved my life. I just remember sitting on my bed thinking about what was said on the show about how everyone has to deal with their pain. And that some one somewhere has it worse then me. I don't think I would be alive to today if it wasn't for that show. I know I am forever grateful for the people who made the show happen. especially Sarah Michelle Gellar. I will always look up to her.

Tough choice. I love them both and I watched every show. Buffy had a lot of one liners and new words and Angel spun off from it another great show. These were not children shows either they were young adults up to my age and I am 56 now and my wife 51 and my 3 boys 30, 26 and 22 and we all love Buffy and I am the only one that watched House all the time I guess I liked his name. Love Buffy because of all the action and comedy and House was basically the same him taking all the pain pills and being rude to everyone but he always solve the problem within his hour show. Buffy has my vote .

These two characters appeal to almost opposite demographics. I fear that Buffy may win only because most people who vote in online polls are the same ones who watched Buffy and not House.

This isn't even a fair contest - I don't see any 'House' comics out there keeping the home fires burning, but Buffy is going strong with season 10, and I get a new chapter every month. go Buffy!

House was a quality show, and House as a character had his moments to be sure, but there is no "houseverse". There most definitely is a buffyverse. Not too mention the spin off that succeeded as well.
House would make a fantastic Dr. Who. Buffy gets my vote though.

House should be as far ahead as homer simpson is in comedy. this should not be so close with Buffy of all people. One she can't act and her show was a very boring drama show in the end. House was very well writen with dark humor and had more great season then buffy. I mean they ran out of material for writing in when they had that stupid singing show.

I like Hugh Laurie as an actor better than Michelle Geller but Buffy was the best and well rounded between the two shows, not so much for the actress but for Joss Whedon's writing. I watched House off and on but the running story lines in BTVS actually became so popular, there are classes at University's doing studies on the show.
