Just to add on 1D won global success Award in 2 row year 2013 and 2014.
Just recetly 1D won billboards top duo artist and top touring artist award and it's incredible they beat rolling stones. Though in two niminations taylor won over 1D but it's ok because if you look back on other awards giving bodies like amas, vmas etc taylor also was beaten by 1D. Both are good but 1D is amazing in a span of just 5 years and in their first album was a huge success and even them can't imagine how they get #1 to United states which other artists from UK find it difficult to make it to america. And their album got #1 on more than 35 countries that's amazing for a singer who os still in a year span in music industry. And they continues fo be the biggest boyband up to now. We're not claiming it because that title came from the music experts agencies

Every artists has winnings and loses but you can't argue w the truth that 1D has set to break the records according to Billboards. Taylor and 1D is not on the same category. 1D is a boyband while taylor is soloist. Taylor is much ahead of 1D in the music industry. First of all I have to say that I have the album "four" and "1989". I'm not a directioner and not a Swiftie. But I have to say that 1989 is far better than four. I'm sorry, directioner, but for me, 1989 is a masterpiece and compared with four... I don't know but four seems like an album, 1D wanted to release as fast as possible to get money. Taylor's album shows us (as usual) her amazing writing skills. You can notice that producing this album took lots of time and love. So I can't explain why four has more votes than 1989. But I think most of the (directioner) voters have never listened to the whole 1989 album so I don't understand why they are voting.
