Which of the plans proposed to the city would you most like to see at the Lake Worth Casino complex?

SteveninWPB--the money that was borrowed to build this beautiful casino building was money borrowed from ourselves...the City of LW. The post failed to mention that fact that led readers to believe that we were in default to some lender. The only "default" is that vote of the commissioners to delay the principal payment to ourselves. This is NOT an elephant but a fabulous looking 1920's style building and our entire beach park is beautiful. Parking is expensive enough.

I agree with Rodney Romano that it is a park and should remain public. In 2002 the GO bond referred to and that was defeated 3-2 by the voters was for $19 million according to the newspapers at that time. This is almost 3 times the $6 million used to rebuild the current facility.

It's a public park and should remain public. It isn't supposed to make a profit. Ironically, a better, less expensive, financially stable project financed by a GO bond was killed in favor of what's there now. But what's done is done and we have a beautiful property now, which should be strictly reserved to the public, like Central Park. Perhaps the project should be refinanced by a GO bond. That vote would filter the Big Mouths from those truly committed to preserving the beach.

I live in Lake Worth for 3 years now, moved from Jupiter. I don't go there because it's just too much trouble to keep up with a parking meter and I think that deters a lot of people.instead of relaxing it makes you feel like you have to be back at a certain time. Who likes that, when they're going for a swim or an evening out?
I'd like to see free parking at the beach and more light at night. The walkways are nice, but you don't feel safe in the dark.
Also, some real entertainment like live music would be nice. In the interest of getting more revenue, the city should consider putting a city owned Arcade upstairs. Arcades are legal money makers and popular. After all it is called "The Casino"!

What type of choice is that? New development or new development? Where did the Post reporter get the idea that there were only two choices? What about no new development at all. This idea of adding more buildings to bring in more revenue will become a circular idea of again having to add more retail and restaurant space to pay for the new and existing retail and restaurant. The parking lots are full. The emergency vehicles can not navigate the beach loop road now because of too much traffic. Keep it simple and raise the price of parking and rent the vacant second floor space.

I have read that the casino will start breaking even and making money within a year so why go through all this baloney? I don't know where these politicians get there crazy ideas it feels like a slap in the face since the bond issue was turned down

    Bring back souvenir sundries shop
Why bring in someone for the casino- we need local event planners and managers. So many small food businesses that would love to cater
We can do better than a beach club

I would like to see a nicer restaurant upstairs...can even be a chain like Bone Fish Grill but not bar food or pizza. That would bring in more rent and parking revenues to offset the cost of running a public pool. Hudson can build a private swim club at the Gulfstream or golf course.

Like the invasion of Iraq, the building of the Casino with so much debt was a colossal mistake. Now we are stuck with this expensive elephant on our beach. We should have just fixed up the old Casino. The answer is simple: renegotiate the debt or default on the loan. If the Casino has to be boarded up for years to get the creditors to relent, then so be it. Default on the loan. The creditors can do nothing because the Casino has to remain in public hands.
