Without knowing what my good taste in music is, you feel if I were to program such music, it would be a sad day for Canada (or something like that) . You must have heard the expression "If you don't have anything intelligent to say, you should not say anything at all" !
There is a man who does an excellent job, and he's on CBC to boot. I infer from your comments that someone like Randy Backman ( a winner) and the style of music he plays, would not "your cup to tea".
Fact of the matter is, if he could be on for a longer period of time, CBC's ratings would go up, way up.
Randy Backman hosts “Vinyl Tap” on Sunday 6pm on this channel. He plays excellent HITS and provides behind the scenes commentary that is informative and fun to listen to. He does not play any of the Fictitious Top 20, (which are the “Bottom 500” in the real world).
Listen to Randy Backman on CBC, he is a gargantuan step up.

Thank God Mario is not programming the CBC, we would be listening to the same 2% of the music the rest of the world listens to.
There are 35.5 million people in Canada, and all have access to CBC Radio 2 Top 20. Yet all this site can muster up is one comment (from Owen).

Some groups like "Lord Huron" can't even get one vote from anyone IN CANADA! How good can they be ? So why are they even on the air?
Other groups get 1% or 2 % which represents perhaps 1 to 8 votes. Really that's all ! Is this pathetic or what ?

Because The MUSIC IS HORRIBLE, THAT'S WHY !..........
and Canadians (The 35.5 million) just never tune into this amateurish music, played by "WANT-A BE MUSICIANS" playing "Nothing Music". MUSIC THAT WILL NEVER BE POPULAR BECAUSE THERE IS SANITY IN NUMBERS.

CBC cannot fool a nation by force feeding us music we do NOT want to hear.
Apparently ,THEY CAN FOOL 5 OR 6 CANADIANS (THE TOTAL DEDICATED LISTENER SHIP OF CBC) !
I was watching "The Eagles" on YouTube. What a fantastic group from years ago. Hits always sound good. They were inducted into the "MUSIC HALL OF FAME". This was a fantastic group who had hit after hit in the late 70's. They are the opposite of the Top 20, which I call the bottom 500 in the real world of hits.
The fictitious Top 20 will never have to worry about ever getting inducted into anything, except a garbage can.
Boy do I hate this music ! This is the "BOTTOM OF THE PICKLE BARREL, " THE PITS", "THE SMALL POTATOES OF MUSIC", GET IT !
