In North American English, we tend to drop the "t" after "n". It is this way with many words that have "t" after "n"; Toronto is not the only word where the "t" gets dropped after "n".
Look at the following examples. How do you honestly pronounce these words?
    -Twenty is pronounced "Twenny"
    -Atlanta is pronounced "Atlanna"
    -Entertain is pronounced "ennertain"
    -I don't know is pronounced "I dunno"
    -Internet is pronounced "Innernet"

A true Torontonian will not pronounce both t's. This is home to us and only foreigners pronounce both t's

You must pronounce Toronto with both T's. Omitting the second T is improper English and just plain lazy. Proper diction is important. I've also heard many news people on television mispronouncing words and making glaring grammatical errors

I was brought up to pronounce it as Tor on to! Properly. I think people are just becoming lazy at pronouncing words properly. A pet peeve, another word you hear people mispronounce is relationship…I hear it on the tv and radio all the time….relaship..drives me crazy!!!!

    It is TORONTO
It absolutely drives me nuts when TV personalities say Turonno or Turonna

Pronouncing it incorrectly makes you sound uneducated.
