I'm not at all opposed to adding drums and a variety of sonic textures to KA's rhymes. But I love what he's done of late, and feel that the starkness of his production lends itself to the whisper-rap attack. It's easier to (attempt) to grasp his lyrics in this fashion, and it's certainly a benefit to his live performance. I saw him at Pitchfork last summer, and he was on stage rapping to a bunch of people that were previously unfamiliar with his work. It's kinda like when an emcee decides to rap acapellas live. The crowd has an easier time focusing on the shit he's saying. KA and Roc Marci have their own lane sonically , and I find myself quite often merging. Slow traffic to the right.

I wasn't up on this so thank you. I started reading and you had me at Natural Elements. Glad I checked this stuff out. I'm going to cop this. " Respect due, select few tuning in"
