I have never been a fan of CBC's Fictitious Top 20, it's the bottom 500 in the real world of hits. But I try to keep an open mind and will watch an occasional video of the music, just to be fair.

    For example:

Mia Rae "Take your clothes off" is disgusting. Horrible lyrics and tune. No class what so ever. Cheap !

Franklin Electric "Strongest man alive" is "Plain Jane" music. Just so-so tune and lyrics that go no where. This is not a good song. Monotone voice.

When someone on this web site says a song is good,

    I SAY, " COMPARED TO WHAT " ?

I JUST LISTENED TO "IT'S NOW OR NEVER" BY ELVIS PRESLEY.

IT HAS BEAUTIFUL DREAMY WORDS, AN OUTSTANDING AND MEMORABLE MELODY AND FANTASTIC ACCOMPANIMENT. AND ELVIS, WHAT A SINGER. HE DOES AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE.

I GREW UP IN THE 1970'S WHEN EVERY SONG WAS A HIT AND EVERY ARTIST WAS A LEGEND. SO FOR ME COMING DOWN TO THIS LOW LOW LOW LEVEL OF CBC MUSIC IS REALLY THE PITS.

    About the fictitious voting:

Unless CBC gives out the quantity of people who voted, the vote makes no sense. If a singer has say 20%, what is the support? How many actual people in Canada does that represent? CBC does not want you to know because the numbers are so small.

Voting is ridiculous. They do nothing with the numbers, they have their own agenda and don't listen to the people. They also influence the outcome of the vote by allowing you to see the results of everyone else's vote before you vote, thereby violating basic international rules. Doing this is not fair or democratic.

CBC has applied to the CRTC for permission to place advertisements.

Well, sponsors want numbers and CBC will have to improve it's music to increase listener-ship.

    I can't hardly wait !

There needs to be a way for people to indicate when they think a song or artist does not belong on the CBC. You are playing too much top 40 drivel that people can hear on their local commercial radio station. I will have to stop listening if you continue to play Ria Mae or Peaches.
    Thanks

Hi Chris, this is Nana aba! The 21 songs are the current high rotation list, decided upon by our senior programmers, so you will sometimes not be able to vote for a song that is in the current top 20.

I wanna vote for Hey Rosetta / Soft Offering ( For the Oft Suffering). Excellent song. Also Joel Plasket s tune. And Tegan and Sara and Tobias Jesso

  • T-Bone - 9 years ago

So, why exactly are the Brave Shores not on this list? Never Come Down is a great song and they're from Toronto...Come on CBC!

    great band, what a song

Still a issue: not being able to vote for ALL the songs in the Top 20
21 songs listed above, 4 of them new. 3 current top 20 songs not listed.,
