Poll choices spread out the votes too much. Should just be three options at most: Liked, Meh, Disliked. Anyway, I don't care for fandom memes, and that's really all this entire episode was, so I didn't care for it.

I've noticed a lot of people like to call this episode out on its fan pandering, but I honestly don't think it was that bad. The real reason we say excessive amounts of fan service are bad is because of Equestria Girls, but the fan service there had absolutely no reason to even exist. There was no context for it and it existed to please the fans for that reason and that reason alone. It contributed nothing to the story. However, in Slice of Life, every bit of fan service had a reason to exist. Even the almighty Twilicane was shoved off-screen the last time we saw it, so it didn't feel as forced to me, because Lemon Hearts could easily have found and claimed it once Twi threw it away. None of the fan service was forced and everything (except Gummy, which was pure comedic genius) contributed to the story. I daresay it wasn't even pandering, because that's a negative term. I like to call it excessive fan service. :)

To sum up the episode in a nutshell: HERE IS A MEME! NOW LAUGH!
That is not a good story that is worse then a fan animation.
The only good thing to say about the episode is the animation and voice acting. But the story was pure and utter shit.

Why are there more than two options? Seriously all that should be on this are "The most awesome episode ever!" and "The greatest thing the show has ever done, period." All other opinions are just wrong.

Mmmm...I feel a bit conflicted on this one. I liked most of the fandom references, but it tried to do way too much, and a lot of the plotlines they set up just didn't get that good of a follow-through. If they got a follow-through at all, that is. (Seriously, Amethyst Star dropped straight out of the episode after her introductory scene.)

Ultimately, it was a big, dumb, hopelessly self-referential ball of chaos, and it was an absolute blast if you just turned your brain off for a bit and soaked up the insanity. But it had a lot of issues as well, and I don't think it'll ever be more than just an "ok" episode for me.

    I practically had a fanboy-gasm.

It was amazing! :) But I wish they put Discord in it. :(

i'm sure that most of the (awesome) vote was only because it was only fanservice

Had to vote for "AWESOME" because there wasn't an option for "everything I've ever dreamed of and more; the best episode ever; proof that [s]God[/s]Luna loves us and wants us to be happy."

S05E09, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Muffins offering a muffin, Dr. Hooves's workshop, Vinyl-vision, "the horror, the horror", Lyra and Bonbon as best friends, "the benches we sat on", Vinyl and Octavia's house, Vinyl and Octavia's duet, philosophical Gummy, Lyra quoting Ponies with Hats (I thought I was making something out of nothing when I first saw that, until the Followup mentioned it), the Fourth Doctor's scarf, Muffins DENYING the mane 6.

And, of course, as awesome as the episode was, it was made cooler by way more than just 20% by watching it for the first time with about half a dozen other bronies. The peels of laughter at the Lebowski ponies, Steven and Cranky's adventures, the twilicane and, of course, most of the previous paragraph. Moreover, the response to 'Special Agent Sweetie Drops'; something of a collective "what in Equestria? Is this actually b*cking happening?"

And if all of that wasn't enough, they confirmed my favourite head-canon: Changelings are not always evil.

"I've gotta go find a crowd to blend into before I put you in danger." -- Sweetie Drops, professional background pony.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite. I enjoyed watching Doctor Hooves in this one, and the music that Vinyl and Octavia did, and it was nice to see an episode being focused on the background characters more. On the other hand, I don't think the targeted audience may have enjoyed this. It doesn't really feel like the show I know and love. I don't know how else to explain it.

It was okay. I really enjoyed Gummy' s monologue and the Royal Sisterly Argument, but it was too far from the show I fell in love with, if they keep this up, I may lose interest in the show. It wouldn't be a show directed to little girls but instead directed to bronies, and that is not what I fell in love with, so this better be a one time deal. The Tirek episode was abysmal for the same reason.

There were no role for Minuette or Apple Cobbler, so I was incredibly disappointed.

Also, it had way too much Derpy and too little Lyra and Bonbon.

    Hated it!

This episode was, like most of the episodes, awesome!

It was tons of fun, and I'm glad that Hasbro and DHX love MLP enough to do something special for their first 100th episode. Though I'll admit I started to miss the Mane 6 after a while. It felt good to see them again at the end.

I'm sure Hasbro knows how important the Mane 6 are though, since they brought the show this far. They are amazing characters, backed by an amazing staff. Hopefully they'll be around for a long time :-)

    I don't see luna's opition

  • ShadowRose - 9 years ago

Like I've been saying, great episode, but WAY too much Dr. Whooves. Big Lebowski ponies kinda ruined the episode a bit.

  • lordelliott - 9 years ago

@jim61773 Luna was in the episode.

  • Darktower3 - 9 years ago

I love how they brought Steven magnet back. Very cool

  • jim61773 - 9 years ago

actually, I take that back. Luna is awesome; therefore AWESOME winning means Luna wins again

  • jim61773 - 9 years ago

What, a poll without Luna in it?
