Well, I just received my assessment and am very pleasantly surprised to see my bill went down by $864. Sorry, folks. (Although that means I"ve been paying too much for years).
I'm in the 2nd block. I think the folks in the first block really had a big increase.

So much for the assessors office saying that we wouldn't see a very big increase in our taxes. Ours went up by almost $2,000.00. The township is taking advantage of Ocean Grove residents that are not only permanent residents, but seasonal residents as well. Pretty soon they will be chasing all the seniors and middle class families from owning any property in Ocean Grove and it will become a town only for the wealthy. We don't mind paying our fair share, but this tax increase is way out of line. The services provided to Ocean Grove residents are minimal. Take a look at the retaining wall along Lake Avenue. Not very picturesque is it? For years we have waited for the township to do something to improve it's facade. Are they waiting for the rest of the wall to crumble during the next storm like it did further up on Lake Avenue during Sandy? What about the abandoned property we have on our block. Shouldn't the assessor have taken that into consideration when re-evaluating our property? Our taxes should have been reduced, not increased since we have to put up with vagrants who occupy the site or might set it on fire on a daily basis. Let me finish by saying I have been an Ocean Grover since I was 4 years old. I have seen Ocean Grove in the best and worst of circumstances. Although the town is on a high right now, if you keep pushing up property taxes the way the township has been doing, you're going to lose a very valuable population who have contributed to the town and made the town what it is today.

I was told they would most probably be the same or even less. What happened?
