    just the facts?
327,653 babies were denied their inalienable right. The right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. don't tell me that you are concerned about women's health care as you are killing 163,826 girls a year. There are other ways for women to have optimal healthcare without killing babies.

This is America. People should make up their minds based on facts, not moralistic/idealistic handwringing on either side of the political spectrum.

    Abortions: 327,653
Sexually transmitted infection/disease testing and treatment: 4,470,597
    Contraception: 3,577,348
    Cancer screening and prevention: 935,573
    Pregnancy tests: 1,128,783
    Prenatal services: 18,684
    Family practice services: 65,464
    Adoption referrals: 1,880
    Urinary tract infection treatments: 47,264
    Other: 17,187

In a potentially related/unrelated trend (YOU should decide), from 1990 until 2010,
    Teen Pregnancy down 51%,
    Teen Birthrate down 44%
    Teen Abortion Rate down 66%

Planned Parenthood is a health organization that provides high-quality, proactive medical and educational reproductive care to teens, men and women. Planned Parenthood has always been a leader and ahead of its time. During the 1970s, Planned Parenthood routinely ordered blood lipid tests for teens prior to prescribing oral contraceptives and, in one case, in my personal knowledge, identified a 16 year old who, on the basis of these blood tests, would have been at greater cardiovascular risk, particularly for stroke, had she been prescribed a commonly used oral contraceptive. This type of blood work was not, at that time, typically ordered as a protocol by private physicians through their private practices, when dispensing oral contraceptives to teens.

As a volunteer, I personally taught individuals and small groups of teens about reproductive anatomy and function, forms and methods of birth control, and, particularly, how to use condoms, to achieve the highest efficacy rate. Pregnant teens were never counseled to have an abortion. Instead, counselors first listened to the young woman and then presented alternative methods for approaching the pregnancy, in those instances when this was even an issue. Many young women want to keep their children. Planned Parenthood provided those women with pre-natal education, pre-natal vitamins, and prenatal care. It is the policy of Planned Parenthood never to suggest options, but only to educate in alternatives, whether alternatives for preventing unwanted pregnancy or alternatives for addressing pregnancy. Planned Parenthood's goal is to make sure that its clients are educated and able to make informed decisions.

Eighty-percent of its clients receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy.

Only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood services are abortion services.

Planned Parenthood provides nearly 4.5 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections, including 700,000 HIV tests.

Planned Parenthood provides nearly 400,000 Pap tests and nearly 500,000 breast exams each year, critical services in detecting cancer.

Planned Parenthood reaches 1.5 million young people and adults with its educational programs, each year.

Planned Parenthood has been in the forefront of advocating on behalf of human reproductive rights and providing affordable reproductive medical care, treatment and education, for 99 years.

Planned Parenthood has eight million activists, supporters, and donors working for women's health and safety and our fundamental reproductive rights.

The government should not fund this organization. People who want to keep this service available should fund it in the same way public radio is funded. Many people forget that we are talking about lives. We are referring to lives as resources. If you can look at this is a business decision where the actual act being done is not considered and the bottom line is the only consideration; then you should feel confident that you have shed a piece of your humanity, and that isn't an indicator that you are evolving the right way. It shouldn't be up to someone to take somebody else's life even if it is their child. Aside from rape victims, the person chose to have sex and reality is there is a chance that you might get pregnant. If your pregnancy wasn't planned, sorry. You made the choice, you shouldn't get Plan C in order to rid yourself of responsibility and the consequences of your choices. I can't wrap my head around the logic that what PP helps save lives (i understand what they mean). But reality is they are taking lives in the process so I don't see the big picture benefit. People love to shed responsibility. It might be America's favorite pastime.

How did we get to the point where people can defend these atrocities?

How do you defend the fact that what PP says in private does not match what they say publicly?

and honestly why would you want to?

If PP cares about these poor women so much, why don't the give the profits of the sale of the baby back to the mother?

it's 2015. we know that at the moment of conception the baby has different dna from the mother. We know that the heart is developed 5 weeks after a woman's last period. We know that the baby is human. we know that when a heart stops beating life is lost. so when abortion stop a human heart from beating a human is being murdered. So if you are going to argue in favor of abortion you are arguing for justifiable homicide. so forget calling it choice, or war on women or what ever buzz word you want to use. Just tell it like it is. You want to advocate for justifiable homicide of an infant and the subsequent sale of it's body parts. Let's face it. If PP cared about these women so much, why aren't they giving the profits of the sale of the body back to the mother.

    Facts:

Planned Parenthood does NOT do mammograms. Period. None of its clinics are authorized to do them. This is according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Planned Parenthood, both here and abroad, performs more abortions than the entire country of China.

Nearly 50 percent of PP's clinic income is from abortions.

Planned Parenthood adoption referrals: 2,197. Prenatal services: 19,506. Abortion: 327,166. Abortion as a percentage of pregnancy services 93.8.

Should we really be upset that they're selling the only "product" medical researchers are willing to purchase from them? How else are they supposed to fund their abortion activities if the 500 million in Federal funding they receive cannot be used to pay for abortion services? That's the most hypocritical funding stipulation I've ever heard of... Why even fund them in the first place U.S. Government? I do not blame them at all, and I'm not even pro-choice. From an operational/business perspective, they're doing what they can to keep their doors open and keep the cost of treatment affordable for teenagers without insurance coverage. I'm so sick of the elderly and brainwashed republicans of this country trying to push their religious agendas on an issue that should be a PERSONAL CHOICE. It's not your body, it's not your fetus, it's not your life. I cannot wait until religion no longer plays a role in our national healthcare system, and more importantly, our personal choices. If that day ever comes...

In response to just sayin that's ridiculous. By that logic the dems shouldn't have to pay for anything the reps don't want. Say goodbye to the wars going on. And I agree the people who published these heavily edited videos should be prosecuted.

If folks want to support Planned Parenthood, that's fine. Write them a check. Do the math. If just 50% of those who supported Barack Obama in the last election sent P/P $20, they would have more than the government is currently giving them. You can't get 1/2 of the Dems to pony up $20 out of their own pockets, you have no business getting any of my dollars (through federal spending).

If what is being portrayed is illegal, prosecute the offender! If what is being portrayed is not illegal but in fact just Anti-abortion politics, prosecute the anti-abortionists. Why must so many suffer for crimes of the few A.H. in the group. It would be like dissolving the Congress of the U.S. for actions of the few, Oh wait, that is a good idea!
