Do you think Eagle Scout hopefuls should be used more often for beautification projects in our communities?

One of my sons is an Eagle Scout - as I recall, the boys choose a project, write the scope and plans for the project, get it approved by the leaders, they also must recruit help from either their group which would include friends, etc. and the public if that is appropriate.

If a boy is Eagle Scout material, that means he has some sense of purpose - this is great for whatever project he decides on.

From what your post asks though, it sounds as if you planned to just "put them to work" so to speak. I am not sure that would jibe with Scouting requirements for an Eagle. The planning and implementation of the project is critical to approval. I do know that whatever help you could provide to these kids in order to help them achieve their goal is a worthy thing to do.
