Which of these beliefs do you hold dear?
If something is legal than I want to be able to make money doing it even if it is immoral or unethical.
Morality is personal and has no place in business.
It is not my job to be ethical; there are other people who take care of that.
If I do something wrong then I might have to admit guilt, and I never do that as a matter of principle.
I never apologize for anything because nothing is ever my fault.
I am always ethical so it is redundant to say I am an ethical financier.
I am not selfish - I work for the benefit of my family, my employers, and my shareholders, so what is good for them is ethical in my book.
Whether it is legal, moral, or ethical is irrelevant if everyone is doing something then it cannot be wrong.
Greed is good - the "invisible hand" takes care of turning my greed into the greater good by a process I don't need to see (because it is invisible).
Whoever said "crime doesn't pay" hasn't run the numbers. Of course it pays; given how few people have gone to jail I'm willing to take the risk.
Hmmm... Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to aspire to be an ethical financier.
