The only stores that should be open on Thanksgiving are the ones that sell emergency supplies and food. Personally, the only store I will shop at on Thanksgiving day is a grocery store if I need to get something last-minute that I forgot to buy earlier. I like the fact that even grocery stores are open limited hours on Thanksgiving day.

As far as the comments that it is taking away from family time-- people in retail alqays are missing something to do with family because of the hours they work but knew that when you work retail--- but as far as opening on thanksgiving if they kept it to opening at 5 or 6 pm everyone should have had time with their family!

You know what, if you work in retail, the store should be open whenever the customers need it. If you don't like it, get another career. This obsession with holidays that america has is ridiculous.

Two days out of the year we should always be Closed. Christmas and Thanksgiving. If you have to go shopping on those two days shame on you, you are taking away someone's family. Put yourself in there shoes and see how you like it. If everybody supported this the retailer would stay closed. It's all about money greed.

While it's crazy the hours I have to work and the amount of sleep I will be trading in for coffee, I actually appreciate the pay I will be getting to be there. It might mean I have to have Thanksgiving breakfast instead of dinner with my family, but it works out in the end. It means come Christmas time, I'll be able to afford gifts for them on a day I actually can spend with them.
They should go back to just opening early on Friday. They should let their employees enjoy Thanksgiving.

I agrre, Stores should stay closed on Thanksgiving. It's a sad reflection of society. What ever has happened to the character of valu of patience. Society has become a "me want" and "now" short term thinking kind of society. We all need to get back to the basics of value of patience and thankfulness.

This poll amazes me. I know that at least half of the people who voted NO will be out shopping on Thanksgiving. Put your Money were your mouths are and stay home. If people stopped shopping on Thanksgiving then we who work retail could be home with OUR FAMILIES too.

We have become such a "we want it right now" society that we have forgotten how to be still and thankful for what matters most!

Thanksgiving WAS the only holiday that had not been ruined by commercialism. Please give me back the holiday I fondly remember.
