What do you think of Dennis Wideman's 20-game suspension?

Wow! you can see him raise both his arms and stick above the shoulders of the ref. He purposely attacked the ref. If anyone watches this there is total intent to make contact with the ref. The he leaves the ice as if nothing happened. Pretending he wasn't caught on camera. His apology that he never meant to hit this guy. Really Widesman, have you looked at the video. Do you think we were all born yesterday. You are a disgrace, you may not have ever had any other incidents so they report, but just like a thief who is never caught.

The ref should press criminal charges against you.

Be a leader and accept your punishment. Don't try to use the medical system to help your cause. If wideman didn't mean to do it, he would of got his ass off the bench to check on the linesman.
Flames should give him 20 more games

If you look at the circumstances of how it came about, and look at this record in the league, 20 games is a bit harsh. He was clearly dazed from the hit and in a lot of pain. I agree that there needs to be some consequence, but 10 games would have been reasonable. He is a well respected player, both on and off the ice, who has played 800 games without incident. I fully understand that there is no tolerance for any kind of contact on an official, but they really need to look at the whole picture.

It is quite obvious that he hit the ref on purpose. He should be suspended for the rest of the season!!!!

I don't believe the punishment fits the crime; in fact he got off super easy. Not only did he hit an official on the ice, he shows almost no remorse immediately after the incident and well after the incident.

We all get frustrated at the "bad" calls of officials, but the position is supposed to be sacrosanct. He should have been suspended from the NHL for 246 games and the Calgary Flames should have been forced to keep him on the roster until 82 games has passed. This may seem harsh, but it needs to be a deterrent to the next person.

Unbelievable to watch wideman raise his stick in the air ,put his hands together as if you were making a hit on the ice. and driving that linesman. He then goes to the bench with no regard for the official. It almost looked premeditated.
