Quite the opposite may be true. Christians specifically have the option of wiping the slate clean with any prayer asking for forgiveness. Charlie Manson could go to heaven by asking forgiveness, regardless of his atrocities.
Atheists know that heaven or hell are created by us, right here on earth, and we try to behave accordingly.
I'd much prefer to trust a person who takes responsibilty for their own actions rather than one who simply blames original sin and asks forgiveness after every minor or major immoral act.

It's very very simple: ask yourself, "Will this action I'm about to take increase the amount of suffering or happiness in the world?" You shouldn't need to be threatened with eternal punishment in order to not, you know, be a jackass.

Those are the words on what appears to be a Facebook post published Tuesday morning by the man local media identified as the gunman in a series of shootings near Hesston, Kan., that left 3 people dead and 14 people injured a little more than 48 hours later.
