I didn't like this signing for several reasons... 1) they're giving up their first round draft pick for a guy they will have for only one year... 2) if they tag him next year so they could get a first round pick if someone else signs him, which would be for over $16 mil, which is twice what they are paying him now, it's guaranteed he would take it since he didn't this year and it cost him almost 8 mil... 3) he's a shortstop who they will play in lf and his offensive numbers just aren't that great. seems to me that gallo, rua, and whoever could do just about as good and you'd still have this year's number 1 pick plus 8 mil.
