Some foods like hot dogs with certain ingredients will trigger an aurora and then the difficulty of speaking begins. I try to speak but the words do not come out correctly. Most of the time I do not have a painful migraine, but I will see the streaks and jags in my eyes. It scared me as I thought I was having a stroke, but thankfully, it went away after about an hour or so. I usually lose my appetite. This last one, I only had one piece of Christmas chocolate, and within an hour I was babbling. I controlled it, but it was very evident. Thank you for this article as it helped me mot be so fearful. I believe better eating habits will be to my benefit. I am 75 years old and still very active and working.

THANK GOD FOR THIS ARTICLE...I HAVE HAD OPTICAL MIGRAINES OFF AND ON FOR YEARS BUT USUALLY MONTHS APART. FRIDAY AND SAT. HAD TWO AND ALONG WITH THE SECOND BEGAN TO BABBLE AND HAD DIFFICULTY TRYING TO TELL MY HUSBAND I NEED THUMB TACKS AND DUCK TAPE. HE SAID I SOUNDED AS IF I WERE SPEAKING IN TONGUES. ALSO COULD NOT THINK OF WHAT A SAFETY PI N WAS, SO COGNITIVELY FOULED UP ALSO. NATURALLY I THOUGHT IT A STROKE THOUGH THESE TIA'S DO MIMIC ONE TEMPORARILY. NEVER HAD THESE SYMPTOMS IN THE PAST.

ONE MORE TIME I AM SOOO RELIEVED AND PLAN TO WEAR DARK SHADES FOR MY COVID VAX THIS WEEK AS BRIGHT SUN OFTEN TRIGGERS OPTICAL MIGRAINES.

I have familial hemi-plegic migraine and it's gotten worse in the last 10 months. For 60 years I never threw up. Now I always do. Plus I have gotten into a coma twice for four hours. MRI showed nothing like a stroke. Weeks afterward feeling brain fog. At my age (almost 78) it's very upsetting to lose memory after these "attacks."

For four years I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Special Needs Middle School Students. They were a blessing and a joy in my life - FINALLY some people understood at a gut level what it's like to live with a disability! My students advocated for me!

They could tell when I was in prodrome because they heard my aphasia. One or more would say, "Mrs. Davis is getting a migraine. Her words are jumbled." They would ask me if I needed to go to the nurse's office before my Lead Teacher could. I finally learned about the ADA and used that knowledge to my advantage.

I had to quit that job because, while my students loved working with me, the school's administration wasn't on my side. Plus, my daughter was graduating from the high school next door to "my" middle school and we were moving out of the district. I had worked as a Sub for 18 years, at every grade level from Kindergarten to 12th Grade, and at every school, including the school for troubled kids and the school for incarcerated kids.

it started 10 years ago when I was working nights. I worked for a company for 13 years and after 10 years service I was having difficulties driving home, I didn't know the way home, I had to drive around the city untill I noticed some were I noticed. I thought I was tired. then 10 years after that I started with jumbled words. I couldn't get a sentence out. it's very frustrating. so I went to doctors and they sent me to a specialist were I had head scans and tests and he said I suffer from migraine but without the pain. but suffer with jumbled words. and I've found if I eat fresh cream this triggers jumbled words . so I avoided fresh cream . I take tablets which control it but in my job it can be very frustrating. please contact me if you think I can help. .Paul
