A hard decision, but I opted for 18" mainly because I recently reconnected with a friend who told me her DIL said 'NO AG dolls for her GD', only to call me 2 weeks later saying her GD used her savings to purchase an AG doll. So . . . I'm in the process of sewing her doll a wardrobe -- LOL!!! Perhaps if the 13" voters win out, the patterns would work for my neglected 14" Hearts4Hearts. ;')

I voted for more 18" summer crafts and clothes, but I agree that smaller size items are needed. My girls have dolls in smaller sizes and it's hard to scale down the items just right. Thanks for your great ideas and sew alongs!

That's so much for the adorable pattern for April's birthday dress. I voted for 18" doll patterns but lately have been wanting a Little Darlings doll but don't have one yet. So I would be happy either way! Thanks again for your generosity!

i must have hundreds of patterns for the AG size dolls...i really would like to have some clothes for my 13 inch dolls and shoes of course...you make all of your patterns so easy to understand so i sew with mostly with your patterns...since i have been following your blog i have bought a Sasha doll, she needs clothes too....yes my dolls are needy...lol...it is all great and you make it fun! thank you

I sew only for Kidz n' Cats dolls. As long as you have the "formula" or a guide for enlarging the smaller patterns to fit KnC, I would be happy with either project, since I already know how to resize AG size patterns to fit KnC. I do like the idea of having some craft projects for my dolls. Jennie, you are simply wonderful with your generosity in sharing so many free patterns. I don't know how you can accomplish all the things you do! Whatever project you decide for this summer will be just fine with me. Thank You!

I only have 18" AG dolls so the April option interests me. But I would like to see some interesting items for the smaller dolls that might tempted me into obtaining one. Thank you for whichever choice wins the poll I am sure I will enjoy it.

Maybe you could do half of the sew a long be Cheries and Little Darling, the other two weeks on April. That way, everybody benefits.

  • Linda Roberts - 8 years ago

I am a fan of Les Cheries and Paola Reina. I am always looking for more poo at terns for 13" dolls.

My basic interest is in the 18" soft body doll. I have been drafted to do a doll boutique for our Nov, bazaar. It started simply when I suggested we add unique doll jewelry to the jewelry booth I chaired this past year. The idea has now grown to be redone 18" dolls, hair restyled, skin refreshed, and dressed for the holidays with appropriate fabrics, jewelry, and crowns. Fun but a little intimidating. I am so thankful for the ideas and patterns you are sharing.

I love the sound of both projects, sandals would be wonderful, the 13/14 inch dolls can always use more
attention, there is not as much available for that size, though you make it easy to re-size your patterns, I do love it when you do crafts with your dolls...which ever one wins it will be fun. btw my h4h really need shoes,
most of them are rescue babies and came to me barefoot.

  • margaret - 8 years ago

I love your blog on April and all the lovely things that you have been making for her --but this summer I had decided to start making shoes. The sandals project would be perfect to ''incentivize'' me

I've been enjoying April's journal, but I mainly sew for smaller dolls. It was sew fun last summer to sew something each week for the dollies. I did shrink the patterns for my smaller doll size which worked out well. I'll be happy with whatever you decide.

Thank you again for being so generous!!! While the 18" dress is cute, very cute, there is such a lack
of patterns available for the 13" dolls and they are so very cute!!!! So my vote is for the 13" dolls. There is an abundance available for 18", but not so much for the 13". As of today, looks like the 18" dolls are winning. But regardless, it's super that you care so much and share so much with the rest of us who don't have the talent and "gifts" that you do! :0) You're amazingly wonderful!!!!

I love both options. But, even though I don't have one of the smaller dolls, the sundresses and sandals sound like they may be easier to adapt for other sizes and any ideas for shoes are always desireable since finding just the right shoes for an outfit is really a chore.. I really love April's birthday dress and think it's the perfect special occasion dress for a little girl and your fabric choice is awesome.

I am sure that whatever you choose will inspire us all. I am very grateful that you share with all of us so openly and joyfully. However, from my own personal perspective, to be oerfectly honest, I must say that I secretly hope you choose an April Summer Sew Along, due to the fact that the children I sew for only have the 18" dolls, as do I. I love your sew alongs though, and greedily, I want to participate. However, without a doll of those other sizes, I may have to sit back and just enjoy everyone else's contribution this year. Either way, thank you so much for including all of your fans and sister sewers in your great adventures. Also, thank you very much for your delightful new pattern that you posted today. I can't wait to try it out. God bless!

Frankly, I didn't vote because either idea intrigues me. I'm a grandmother, but I grew up making doll clothes, and in my "second childhood," I decided that's what I like to do -- make doll clothes. I have five 18-inch dolls and a vintage 14" Toni as well as other dolls in my collection. Wherever your muse takes you, I'd love to follow.

There seems such an Abundance of ideas, patterns and accessories for the 18" size dolls, Unless it's for the Slim fit like Kidz n Cats and there is not much available for them.
But I would love to see more for the Smaller dolls as there is not alot available for them. I have grandaughters with the Les Cheries dolls and I have one Paola Reina doll. Grandaughters would love more outfits for the Les Cheries.
Thanks for all your wonderful ideas and patterns you are so generous! I appreciate your giving.

I agree with Gail's "socially responsible" point of view, and it was a tough choice. However, I am sewing primarily for the larger dolls at the moment, and the mention of camping sounded particularly appealing. The addition of shoes for the other dolls was tempting, though, but maybe they'll work into the rotation before too long. Truly, both sound good, so I'd really be happy with either.

  • Laurie - 8 years ago

Since my sewing abilities are minimal and my mom's fingers don't do tiny stitches anymore, I voted for the April patterns; plus, I love doing the crafts!

  • Barb S - 8 years ago

I have gotten into the Paola Reina Las Amigas dolls and now have two. I would love to see more things for them as there aren't a lot of patterns out there for them. Thanks!!

  • Gail Orr - 8 years ago

I voted for clothes for April because I don't have any other dolls but I agree with the other comments in that there seems to be fewer patterns available for smaller dolls and that might be a more "socially responsible" choice. :)

  • Jessica - 8 years ago

Thanks! I'd be happy with either option but I voted for 13" because it seems like there's less for them.

  • Candy - 8 years ago

    I love to make accessories!

  • Lorna Nutting - 8 years ago

I would love the 13" option as I don't have any sandals for my Little Darlings and summer is coming.

  • diana v. - 8 years ago

I love everything you do and would be happy with either option...but I did vote for 13" only because I have a lot less patterns for them. Thanks!!!

  • Line - 8 years ago

Both option will be lovely, really will.

  • Irene - 8 years ago

Clothes are fun but crafts are really fun! Love those fun projects to go with the clothes!
