Everyday I choose to read the news. Everyday there is video the police release of criminals for the public to help in their investigation. Do those alleged criminals get a fair trail after their faces and crime are shown all over the news? I don't hear anyone saying a thing about it. What about the mug shots plastered in a news paper every week? With story's surrounding each person. Innecent until proven guilty. Yet their faces are held up with a story that says otherwise. Has anyone said a word? Hell no. Expecially not law Inforcement. Do we hear from these alleged criminals? No. Is their side of the story heard publicly? No. Why is a cop getting the exception to the rule? I'll tell you why. He was trained by the police department. The buck doesn't stop with the cop. His boss said its a good shoot. Don't worry about it. Yet a a day or so later fired him. Took it back. Kept him a few more days then fired him again. It's reported that this cop didn't handle things right.
Public: hmm the police department found him in error (seeing the video).
Police: can't release the video because he deserves the right to a fare trail.
Public: based on the polices public statements he sound like he shot a unarmed man crying for mercy and you could see he had to much to drink, his pants were falling down due to the crawling across the floor. He didn't disobey orders. He was severely impaired and either could not comprehend what he was being told to do or could not physically do what he told him to do because he was bloody drunk. Anyone could see the difference to not complying and to damn drunk to fallow directions. Stop calling it non compliant. Because based on their reports thus far. It sounds like the guy was scared and trying to do it inspire of being drunk.
I know this. Not because I saw the video. But because of the information the police department released. The cop looks guilty as hell. But if you look closer, his boss looks to be the guiltiest. Patting him on the back one day and hanging him out to dry the next. That's a shady guy folks. The cop messed up. Clearly you can see that "on the video". The cops have implied so. So really what difference does it really make at his trial if we have the details already from the horses mouth. We have all formed our opinions. Let the woman have the video. So she might prepare her case for the courts. It's evidence! Both sides are allowed to view the evidence. How fair is it the cops viewed it a month ago and she has to wait? Why? Let her adjust to viewing it and then prep for trail just like they did. She's an adult. She says she can handle it. If I was in her shoes your damn right I'd want to see it to. Everyone wants to see it even the whole police force. She can't say anything more damaging to the media than the police department has already done. SHOW THE VIDEO.
While your at it Show the one where they shot and killed a 90lbs mentally ill woman. 3 cops w/ guns vs a little girl. 3 guns to a knife fight. Release from Glendale the footage of a guy with a brick against a police station full of officers. Again mentally ill. Shot dead because a brick hit a tree and brushed a cop's hand. Causing no injuries to the cop. Open season on the guy with a brick. Go ahead and release flagstaffs female shoplifter with a pair of sissors and multiple cops with guns. Girl shot dead. To serve and protect? I think not. Release the video of the guy who stabbed his parents to death. Cops walk in on him still stabing his mother. Why were you able to arrest this man? He should of been shot the second you laid eyes on him. Right? Nope. He jumps out a window from the second story. So he was killing his mom and ran. Why isn't he dead? You all don't make any sense. We know all this. How can there be a video that could persuade any one to think differently than the already do. It sounds like assurance they are right. Their going to see it at some point. What makes you think seeing it at a different point in time

If the police are employees of the taxpayers then why wouldnt the employer(s) want to veiw the wrong doing of their employee?Same goes for any and all employees on the entire planet. If their is counter productive actions then how do we correct those actions?By veiwing the footage.A person working at a gas station gets shot on a regular basis in this country. As well as all other service related occupations. And all those tapes are reveiwed.Only differance is the police have been given a very deadly set of skills and tools. And are made to take an oath to not abuse their authority appointed by the people for the people.Case CLOSED!

Absolutely should be released to her only and if she describes in full detail to the media then so be it. Keeping it under wraps sounds like a cover up to me.

You can bet if the video was in the best interest of the police department it would have been released the next opportunity they could find. This video will be the worst police killing ever caught on police body cameras. Laney deserves to see the video and the department is a disgrace to all law enforcement officers in America. The way this has been handled is pathetic from the police department to the union to the prosecutors office. Trying to silence a wife of a murdered man should be a crime itself. Let the world see just how corrupt you are. The Seargent giving the commands was wrong and way out line and policies were not followed. They went to that hotel and had the your going to die attitude from the first words out of his mouth. Why don't you crawl to America and release the footage and show the incompetence and lack of compassion for a human life. Protect and serve not humiliate and kill. What part of please don't shoot don't you understand? Brailsford pulled the trigger and killed Daniel in cold blood. Check the results of this survey and read the comments on the unions website it's clear what America thinks. Thank God that Mark Garagos is working this case for the family and you will be exposed at every turn on national television.

I feel it should be released but only during the trial for use as evidence.

Obviously the video should not be released due to keeping the integrity of a jury / fair trial. Only ignorant people who don't know shit about the justice system would be screaming about it being released. Those same people will be upset crying if a successful prosecution cannot be achieved due to the defense or court establishing the defendant did not or can't get a fair trial. Duh!

No only in the trial The officer is innocent until he is proven guilty in the video should only be for use in the trial thank you for allowing me to give my opinion

Any Police activity should be released to the public. Especially if the family is requesting so. The video could prove that it appeared the man was reaching for something which in previous cases people have screamed don't shoot and have reached for a weapon firing at officers. Sorry but if some unarmed man can come into your house and you can shoot and kill him. What's the difference in an officer responding to a man with a "firearm" and acting the way he did. God bless the cops just doing there job.

  • David - 8 years ago

just cuz he's a cop so he can't get any special privileges he should be treated just like everybody else

  • Georgia Bartlett - 8 years ago

No the information should not be made public until all the weather in a trial trial complete this will calls to reach me by us. No no no

  • Joyce Ludliw - 8 years ago

The video should be saved for trial. Today anything shared with the public goes viral and makes getting an unbiased jury nearly impossible .

  • Rich Ladrigan - 8 years ago

Body cameras should be used for the police as well as the public's protection.
