If you could eliminate just one federal gun control law this year, what would it be?
The 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act ("FOPA"), which prohibited the sale to civilians of automatic firearms manufactured after the date of the law's passage, and required ATF approval of transfers of automatic firearms.
The 1968 Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, which prohibited interstate trade in handguns and increased the minimum age for buying handguns to 21.
The 1990 Gun-Free School Zones Act, which prohibits unauthorized individuals from having a gun on school grounds.
The 1993 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act requiring background checks on most firearm purchases.
The 1938 Federal Firearms Act (and its successor the Gun Control Act of 1968), which require that gun manufacturers, importers, and persons in the business of selling firearms have a Federal Firearms License (FFL), and prohibit gun sales to certain classes of persons, such as convicted felons.
