How do you feel about the Packers cutting Josh Sitton?

I'm a shareholder and sometimes mistakenly feel too connected to the long time high performing Packers. So my first reaction is a sense of betrayal seeing that Sitton had been cut. I know I don't know the logic behind the cut. But I seriously hope that TT gives the fans some rational here for the decision so that I can move on and get excited about the season again. Give us something to go on here, Ted.

If Josh wasn't showing $5 plus million of blocking skills then it mkkes sense. I try not out guise Thompson and team who seem to get it right most of the time.

The window is closing fast! The shock carries over for an opening day loss to Jacksonville.

Every player hits the wall, in Sitton we do not know if he did or not. What has been leaked is 3 years of back issues, $6 million salary etc, and has lost 30#.
Pack has also 3-4 OL linemen fcing FA and are lot younger. Rolling the dice, TT is rolling the dice on OL and rebuilding at same time.
Having good backups on WR, OL, and possible lb, biggest need is DL---reducing roster and cap opens up signing Vet DL, or trade.

Feels a lot like the Cullin Jenkins mistake in 2011. Hope it works out.

Ted Thompson is incompetent and any suggestion to the otherwise is either a rationalization or an excuse

Some of you guys think Ted Thomson has dementia. Perhaps he does. But consider that Josh Sitton has had chromic back issues for the past three years. Also the Packers were only $9 under the salary cap. Now they are $15 million under the salary cap. This was going to be Sitton's last year in Green Bay anyway. Left tackle is the priority. Bohktiari protects the blind side of Aaron Rodgers. I agree that Taylor and Barkley are not Josh Sitton in his prime. But do any of you nay sayers have any idea just how much Sitton may have declined due to chronic back issues? Thompson did try to trade Sitton. Guess what, no takers immerged. I have noticed that no teams have yet claimed Sitton. So that should tell you something.

Horrrendous decision!!! Couldn't even do a trade? Scenile Ted has to go!!! I hope Aarkn has eyes in the back of his head Lane Taylor is a joke

I must not understand the cap because I don't see a problem THIS year. I must not understand compensatory picks because they could have let him go at year end and gotten one when another team signed our pro bowler to a multi-year deal. I must not understand what "committed to the run" means because Taylor represented a clear drop off all preseason. I must not understand "taking care of their own" because Sitton was a former draft pick with consistent production. And I must not understand why they pay Rodgers $20 million, if they don't make their best effort to protect their investment. The last time they let their starting guards walk (2005), they went 5-11 with a hall of fame QB, so yes guards matter. Just praying TT has something up his sleeve.

I think this poll is too limited. None of us on the outside looking in can know all the considerations that went into this decision. You need a third option that states "I don't fully understand it, but I trust Ted knows what he's doing."

I think there is a common theme here. Josh Sitton was getting near the end of his career, but was not necessarily there yet. His leadership and toughness are without question and I'm not sure the younger talent is quite ready to take over. I know Ted Thompson is a good general manager, but I would have liked to have seen Josh Sitton in a platoon situation to save on his back while maintaining that leadership role on the line. Rotating a fresh body in here or there could have really helped everyone. Then again, what do I know? In the 30 years I have been a Packers fan, Josh Sitton is one of my all-time favorites. I hope he catches on somewhere else and has some continued success to end his career on a high note.

Ted Thompson is rolling the dice big-time on this one. We saw last year what can happen when the offensive line falls apart; and the people they now have to take his place are woefully inadequate to replace him. How do you replace an all-pro with inexperienced and untested people? I tell you, Thompson and his draft-and-develop philosophy has been fairly successful on the whole. But we've seen in the last year how the loss of the key WR had such a devastating effect on the offense. While Sitton is not the kind of player Nelson is/was, without him, what good is getting Jordy back (especially if he has issues). How devastating will it be if Rodgers is injured because Sitton's replacement(s) can't block Jack___t ? Or how effective will any inside running game be? The guy (Josh Sitton) appeared to be ready to go and at is peak--and he's only 30 years/old! All things considered--bad move...quite possibly, A REALLY BAD MOVE.

Unless there was something more wrong with Sittons back, I can't understand why TT would let him go. A true leader in the locker room and a great teacher to the young developing players. Only thing I can think of is a money issue? Going to be a big mistake on TT part. Maybe he'll get a call later??? one can hope!
