I am curious as to why so many people say they hear just fine. I don't hear well because my loss is quite significant. My audiologist takes care to ensure I hear to the best of my ability. I lost my hearing as a production welder and have worn hearing aids for over 22 years - even with those I cannot hear in a restaurant sitting and do have trouble with distance and TV watching. I do wear my aids for about 15 hours a day and would be in a world of 'hearing hurt' if I didn't wear them. Always wear hearing protection when in a noisy area and even doing that is no guarantee your hearing cannot be damaged. I used to wear two sets of protection in the shop environment and still lost hearing because noise level was quite severe.

In regard to not hearing well,I have begun to use a CaptionCall phone which is free to hearing troubled people.It shows a written paragraph above the phone base. About people who think they are fine,sometimes one might know that you're missing something. A senior planet talk
